Corey Breen Forest Hills, NY 11375 Corey Breen decided when he was very young that drawing would be a life long passion. Inspired by his mother, Corey often emulated his mother’s drawing and later self taught himself to draw like his favorite artists. Sparked by an interest in comic books, he began to collect and draw comic book characters and produced his first portfolio. At age 18, Corey entered the Visual and Performing Arts school at Syracuse University. The illustration department is renown for their artists, and Corey learned from professionals such as Murray Tinkleman and Bob Dacey. Corey speaks fondly of his time at Syracuse, explaining, “They had stressed the idea of freelance illustration throughout my education, yet I knew that I wanted to be different and work in a studio contributing my skills as part of an in-house team, while doing freelance on the side.” Corey graduated with a B.A in Fine Arts from Syracuse as part of the class of 2000. After graduation, Corey was fortunate in landing a job working at DC Comics, a top selling comic book company, where he had interned during his senior year of college. Corey has worked with DC Comics for seven years and is now a Senior Pre-Press Artist. In this time, he has perfected his own comic style, and has also become versatile in emulating the styles of many popular artists featured in DC’s books. Corey continues to work as a freelance artist and looks forward to many artistic endeavors in the future.
