For everyone that is familiar with my NEWS on cjbpro.com, I am MOVING! I will no longer be posting NEWS on this page. Well, maybe occasionally, but this page will now just be used as a listing for what has been posted. I now have a blog, where I will be posting and updating more often then this NEWS page, so I hope you all move on over there with me. This doesn't mean this site will be phased out at all. NO, no. This site will still be just as up-to-date as the blog. I just wont be writing here in the NEWS section like I usually do. That will all be found on the blog. The blog can be found as a link on the homepage, or use this address: http://cjbpro.blogspot.com/ That way, I can not only have this wonderful site, for my entire portfolio, but I can have the blog to post those new images, and talk about then easier and more clearly there. Not to mention, the best part, get immediate feedback from YOU! I am really REALLY excited about that, and I hope I can get a following by having a Blog, rather then just my professional site here. SO go on, GET! Get over to my blog RIGHT NOW, and see what's what! I hope you like it. It's gonna be cool, and definitly quiet the companion piece to this site. They will be update equally. Only difference is, you will be able to see more of the process on the blog. For example... the He-Man pic I've been working on. Since the JLA cards have taken up most my time right now, this pic has had to go on the back burner. But with the blog, I will post my pencils so far, and show you what I have. Before, I would just wait to post FINAL images to this site. Now I can be more loose, and post everything, from doodles, to the final completed pieces. I also joined TWITTER! I've been busy, right? LOL Check out my Twitter page, and FOLLOW me... Jump on the CjB Productions bandwagon, and I hope you enjoy all my posts and all my artwork! http://twitter.com/CjB_Productions See you on my Blog, and on Twiter! Corey J Breen 2/18/09 - Well, it's a month since my last post, and that seems really crazy! Everything has just flown right on by. The NY Comic Con came and went like a flash, and now it's almost spring time. The Con was really GREAT! I got to see and meet a lot of people, and the experience of having a table there was really AWESOME! I can't wait for next year. This year, I split a table with some coworkers, and although that was really great, I think it's worth it to spend the money to have a table all to myself and really pump up the website and promotion of CjB Productions! The next con wont be til October, but I'm gonnna start planning now. I will have to make a banner, have more postcards, more comics, and hopefully a LOT of prints. People love those, and hopefully I will have something like this card set I'm doing, all as a print, and try to sell that. That sounds cool. As far as the cards are going. Pretty good actually. By the end of the week I should have all 200 drawn on the cards, and starting after that, I will color and ink them all. It's been a huge project so far, but it's gonna look great! I have some art to show. Two drawings from the con, and two drawings of the new character from McFarelane and Kirkman. I got really excited when they annonced that Ottely was drawing the new series HAUNT, that I had to draw him IMMEDIATELY, and I did two drawings of him! If you know me, you know McFarlane is who got me to want to be a comic artist, so anything he does, I just love. But the annoncement of Ottely, just sealed the deal on this book for me, because he is sooo AWESOME! McFarlane had his day, now it's Ottely's turn, and I can't wait. I hope you like my interpretation of the character in the Indy Gallery. The Silver Surfer con drawing I did is in the Marvel Gallery, and the one I did for a paying customer is in the Freelance Gallery. Hope you check it out! That's it for me for a while though. The He-Man pin-up must wait longer, as I try and work on all these cards, ok. I also need to finish these Batman drawings I've been working on forever... So bck to the drawing board... Lata, Corey PS- I got a Kitten. My older cat, Kristy's cat Jack, passed away almost a month ago now. So we decided it was just too lonely with just me, her and our cat Calla, so we got a kitten. His name is Sebastian (always wanted a cat named that), and he is so cool. I posted a pic of him on the personal pics page!) 1/23/09 - Since the Save-the-Dates have been mailed and the people who are invited to my wedding in the summer, have gotten theres, it is finally time to put the piece up in the Freelance Gallery so other people can see what the illustration is. So check it out, it's next to the other Save-the-Dates I've done for people! It would have been weird to draw Kristy and I for something to send to people, so I decided to draw our two cats, Jack and Calla instead. And since they can't come to the ceremony and reception, which sucks because they are Kristy and I's family, then at least they can be there in the drawing. I hope you like it, and I hope that if you are seeing it and weren't invited, that you are not too upset. LOL I also signed the contract for my next freelance assignment, and it is more CARDS! YEAY! More cards. Only this time, it's 200 CARDS! Yes, 200! I only have a couple of months, so it's gonna be a lot of work, because they all have to be original drawings. They are only like two-by-two inches, but still, there is 200 of them. So yea, I may be quite BUSY to say the least. I hope to finish up He-Man this weekend, to kinda knock off any rust, since I've mostly been coloring on the computer lately, and thats different then drawing freehand, so maybe I will have that to post. But otherwise, most of my time and drawings will be on those cards. So if I disappear agin for a little bit, it's because of that. Hope you like the Illustration of my cats, and I am out to get ready to watch Jeopardy and then BATTLESTAR GALACTICA! YEAH! Breen 1/22/09 - Hey! I got some new NEWS! First, just finished those Punisher colors like I promised. I tried out a different kinda technique. Even more "painterly" then previous colors of mine. Still a little torn on the piece. Don't love it, don't hate it. So let me know what you think. Second, I got my postcards in the mail for the ones I will be selling at the con! They look awesome! I can't wait to have them on the display and then hopefully, people will buy them. They look really REALLY cool, and I think they will sell for sure. Finally, the biggest news of all. I got a another freelance gig, and this one is HUGE! It's for a good amount of money, yet it's a LOT of work. I have until April 15th to bascially do about 200 drawings. I know, right?! Crazy... But it's not as bad as it sounds, it's actually doable, because they will be small and also similar. I'll tell you more about it once it is completly confirmed, and the project is a complete go! Don't want to jinx it now in the final stages. But suffice to say, I thought things would calm down after the con, but looks like I got a FULL plate. Very excited though! Now I must go, and do my daily Wii Fit Training! HAHAHAH Later y'll! Corey PS - How sick was BSG and Lost this past week?! So psyched my shows are BACK! So inspiring too. Those shows get me in the mood to create and DRAW! Hope they do the same for all of you! 1/20/09 - First, Happy Birthday, Kristy! I love you Baby-Girl! Second, I just finished coloring another old piece of mine. I just posted the colors to Lion-O of the Thundercats! I know the glove is HUGE, but sometimes, I like to go a tad crazy with proportions... it's just me having fun! I again did two versions of it, one with the "lightning", one without, below it. I did the lightning for the last three pieces (Gambit, Cerebus, and now Lion-O), but I am retiring it now. LOL Neat little trick, I know, but after three of them, it gets old real fast. So lets just call these three pieces, the Lightning Series, and be done with it. But hope you like it. I think I am going to finish coloring ONE more piece, and thats the Punisher Pin-Up. I'm having a TON of fun coloring these, and it really makes me get into a flow and get the rust off, for me to do other things, and Kristy says she loves when I color the pieces, because it makes them look 3-D. I like that too. So enjoy one more to come, and I'll have those to show at the convention coming up! Again, I will have a little portfolio showcasing some of my best pieces, and as always, you can buy the original B/W artwork for all my pieces you see at the show and at the con! Well, thats it for now, time to go spend some time with the fiance, it is her Birthday after all... And congrats to my MAN, Obama! I hope you can change this country for the better as you say, and that all americans are able to benifit in some form or another. I love to draw war and violence, but it's a whole nother thing to have people dying in the real world, when I know in my heart that there should and could be peace on this planet. Here's hoping some day there is! Peace, Breen PS- I have Kristy and I's Save-the-Date Postcard to post up, but I want to wait until the people that are invited get theres in the mail first, and then I will show everyone else! So look for that soon too. 1/15/09 - Holy COW! It's done! How's THAT!? BAM BAM! All done! Cerebus Colors are up in the Indy Gallery !! Hope you like it... Cor Still more to come soon! 1/15/09 - Just finished another Pin-Up! I'm on FIRE. YEARH! Prince of Persia Pin-Up is in the Indy Gallery I. Hope you like it. Right now I am waiting on my postcards I ordered from Vista Print and Snapfish for the Con. Actually the Save-the-Date is coming from snapfish and the Con stuff is coming from Vista Print. Can't wait to see how those came out, and the con cards, as I will call them, will be availible to buy for cheap at the show, along with other stuff for sale! Right now I am finishing up coloring the Cerebus Pin-Up I did a long while back. See, I'm trying to have some more color pieces, because everyone loves a finished piece in color, even though I'm really more of a penciller. BUT, I do love to color too, and I am having a fun coloring these old pieces. I just did that Gambit piece, and will have the Cerebus piece, all in a couple of days, and also have them hopefully availible to buy as prints at the show! They are coming out really REALLY cool, I think, as you can see from the Gambit piece, and I think they will be big hits at the show. So I will post that Cerebus, once I am done, which could be TONIGHT! LOL Stay tuned... I know Dezi is doing a lot of cool stuff to bring to the show, and Fred has been off for two weeks, so I hope he is working hard to get stuff ready for the show too. I will be sharing a table with them throughout the weekend, so I think our table is gonna be a big HIT! I'll let eveyone know what table # we will be on the floor, and hopefully we're next to someone REALLY cool, like Sean Murphy and Dustin Nguyen, hahahah! That would be sooo sweet... I know Sean, but not Dustin, even though I meet him at a con once. Maybe I can swap drawings with them at the show... THAT would be SICK! Ok, I'm reallllly excited, so I will calm down, and try and get Cerebus done! Talk to you very, VERY soon! FIRE! 1/14/09 - Just posted the coloring job I did on a Gambit piece that I drew a couple of years ago. I am finally getting around to coloring some pieces, hopefully all in time for the NY Commic Con! So check it out in the Marvel Gallery, and be on the look out for more to come VERY soon... Breen 1/12/09 - Happy New Year All! Some News and Notes: 1) Posted the Ringo! Tribute in Indy Gallery 2 2) Posted my final Bicep Tattoo Design in Creator Gallery 3) Finished Kristy & I's Save-the-Date Drawing, but will wait to post it until it is mailed out! Can't wait to show everyone! 4) Finished three other drawings, but will wait to post those as well. 5) Started Pencilling a Prince of Persia Pin-Up. 6) Still working on that He-Man pic, and those Batman Pics. Thats it for now. Getting ready for the convention, so I will definitly post before that and give an update, let you all know what table I will be at in Artists' Alley, and what kinda goodies I will have to sell and give away! I can't wait! Time to get some postcards printed for the show... Later, Corey 12/18/08 - I'm BACK! Already. LOL No, I just stopped in today to tell you to check out the finished Twilight Pic now up in the Indy Gallery II. I'm still working on, and will have soon the following pics, so hold me to these, ok...? He-Man Heroes Pin-Up Wanted Movie Pic Batman "Heroes" Covers (2) Ringo! Tribute Piece Legion Jam Piece with Co-Workers I want those DONE and posted by the New Year, so make sure that happens. Happy Holidays! Corey 12/17/08 - WOW! Where the HELL have I been, RIGHT?! I can't believe I haven't written or posted ANYTHING since JULY! JULY?! Hot damn. I'm so sorry. I think I must've now lost all two of my readers now, for sure. Oh well, I'll try to get you back somehow! LOL I guess I just ran into a whole lotta LIFE since July. In August I got engaged, to my WONDERFUL Fiance, Kristy. Then I guess football season started, and if you know me at all, that kinda CONSUMES my life. But now that is winding down, and I am now out of this years playoffs in my Fantasy League, and will have to give up my Championship Trophy from last season, I am back to being free. For the MOST part. See, between planning the wedding for next July, and now Christmas and whatnot, it's still just as BUSY as ever, actually. But I'm finally back, and I have some art to show, but not much. I am working on a TON of stuff though, so I will have more to post shortly! With the convention season approching REALLY fast (NYCC in Febuary- which I will talk about more real soon-I got a table there with some other artists!) I need to get a bunch of new material to show. First, I posted a portraiture I did for a Bar Mitzah. It was a WONDERFUL freelance gig that I was real lucky to do. It's a great piece, I am really proud of it, so check it out. It's in the Freelance Gallery. Second, I did another movie pic. This one of Quantum of Solace, which was cool, I love Bond flicks! That one is the Indy II Gallery. One other pic I have to show right now is that of the NEW DC Comics character, Superwoman! If you are NOT reading Action Comics and Superman, and Supergirl right now, you better catch UP, because it is AWESOME! Geoff Johns is my new favorite writer, second to only James Robinson now, who is also helping out with those Superman, New Krypton stories in those books. So check that out, and you can see the new Superwoman pic in the DC II Gallery. You know how I love new costume and characters! Finally, I will end on that note about what I am doing for the convention, and what I will have to show at the... show. LOL I, along with a coworker, is doing an alternate cover kinda-deal, where I am drawing all the Heroes of the He-Man Universe, and my co-worker is handling all the Villians! It is gonna be two separate images, but they will be drawn to look like they are facing off against each other, about to battle, when you put them together. I know I'm much further along then Steve is on his, so I may only be able to show my part of the "Jam" piece, but You'll get the idea when and if you see it. So I'm totally working on that. Also, for the Wedding Save-the-Date invites, I will be drawing a little somethin'-somethin', so I will post that when done, and those are sent out, for my wedding. Let's see, what else? Umm, I am very close to finishing another movie pic, that of Twilight. For the ladies of coarse... hahahah. No, seriously, I like the book, and the movie was a guilty pleasure, for sure. I also want to do a pic of Wanted, but I haven't started that yet. See my plan before the He-Man idea, was to do a bunch of Movie Pics, mainly because a lot of people have told me they really like my drawings of Indy, and Sweeny Todd. So for the con, I wanted to more of them, and have a bunch of them to show. So hopefully I can get those done, and have a theme going there. After that I am still finishing older drawings (LOL) which never seem to get done. May have to give up on those and just post them unfinished, lol. We'll see though. Then I gotta ink my tattoo, and then get it finally. I think thats it for now then. It's so nice to be back, and I will try so hard to keep this more update. I am promising myself that I will post EVERY two weeks, even if I have no art, just to say I'm still alive. OK? Hows that sound? Because I hate when my favorite artists do NOT update their blog or site for weeks or months. SO I can't do that here, now can I? Thanks for being patient then, and GO GIANTS! HAH HA Enjoy the new posts... Breen 7/3/08 - I really have no words to say about the death of one of my favorite comic book artists, Michael Turner. So I did the only thing an artist can do, and that is to speak in a picture. I did a tribute drawing to him, of one of his creator owned characters, Ekos. It's a book he was going to get around to after Soulfire, but obviously, now never will. And that really makes me sad. I meet Mike at many a convention, but the one night I will always remember is the time he came by a DC hang out night. I was introduced to him by an editor, because they knew I was a fan of his. He was the kindest, nicest freelance artist I ever meet. He treated me like he had known me for YEARS, and we talked the rest of the night. We talked comics for a bit, but really, we just had a great time together. If this was how he treated strangers, I can only imagine how he treated his friends and family. And for that, I send out all my sympathies. Mike died of cancer at the age of 37. More info can be found here, about this artist who had such a HUGE influence on me, and I will always treasure his artwork, characters, and lust for life. You will be missed mike! www.aspencomics.com The tribute drawing I did is in the Indy Gallery 2. Hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July holiday. Sincerely, Corey 6/12/08 - Just finishing up a lot of things that have been on my desk for quiet some time now. The Kung Fu Panda drawing is done. Along with an Atomic Robo pin-up (love that book). Both are in the Indy galleries. Also finished up two creator owned pin-ups and character designs. You can check those out in the creator owned gallery as well. I think I have one more that I am trying to finish tonight, once I get off the computer here, and thats the Ringo! Tribute piece from like 7 months ago (yea, thats how far back I'm going to finish some of these pieces). Sometimes they just get lost in the shuffle. But I'll let you know when thats up. So gonna finish that... I'm also working on my next tattoo still. Coming along good, and hope to get it permanently on me soon. I'll keep you updated on that. Also, finishing up on a drawing I'm doing for a freelance client. Then I think I'm fully into the Children's book I'm doing and also another freelance portrait I just got commissioned to do (hopefully). So thats where I'm at. Going to see Hulk tomorrow, since I'm off and then Kung Fu Panda (double feature, lol). Then off to see DMB Saturday night, and K's parents on Sunday for fathers day. Then some errands on Sunday, and then back to work! Enjoy you're weekend everyone, and congrats to my baby sister and her now husband on tying the knot! Love you, Coll. It was great to see the whole family together for such an amazing weekend, and all my love to you all. Hey fin! :-) bye, Cor 6/04/08 - I liked the piece I did for Ori so much, that I decided to color it, trying to keep that wash that I did with the letraset markers. I threw it up right above the toned piece in the freelance gallery. Can you tell I'm REALLY psyched for Hellboy II, or what? Even watched the first one last night. But this one is gonna KICK it's a$$! Hope you like it, Corey 6/02/08 - Just got back from Wizard World Philly! It was a great time. I bought a couple of things (TMNT Leo action figure from the original series, and a Gentle Giant Luke Skywalker in Hoth Gear Statue). I also drew a commission for an artist friend of mine, named Ori Avalon. He wanted a Hellboy for his sketchbook, and I posted the final image I gave him in the Freelance Gallery. I hope he likes it, as well as all of you. Underneath it you will find a Hellboy drawing from my girlfriend Kristy. While I was drawing the commission, she wanted to take a crack at Hellboy, and that's her piece. So awesome, right? Thanks so much, love! We both can't WAIT for the new movie, it's gonna be AWESOME! I'm off to finish a Indiana Jones piece I'm working on, that I know everyone will love I(the movie was SO COOL!). And also finish a Kung-Fu Panda piece (can't wait for that movie too-man so many AWESOME movies this year- wow!). Then it's time to really start on that Children's Book about the Pigs! So lot of work ahead of me, but it's gonna be a great start to the summer. Hope everyone is well, til next time, corey out PS - UPDATED! with Indy pic in the Independant Gallery. Hope you all 'dig' it! 4/16/08- I know it's been a month, but I couldn't help it this time, I've been SUPER busy! I've been drawing EVERY day, and have a LOT of projects going on. I'll try to tackle each one, very briefly. !st, I've been drawing some sample pages, and that is taking up most of my time. Hopefully I can show you those at some point. 2nd, I've been trying to finish all the sketches I've had piled up, and I just finished one of them that I posted in the Indy Gallery I. It is of a Young Lion-o and Snarf. The drawing is based on re-designs done by one of the BEST in the industry, Sean "CHEEKS" Galloway. He re-designed all the Spider-Man characters for the new Spidey cartoon on the WB! He's amazing, and he did these Thundercats re-designs (for FUN, no less), and I had to tackle the lion-o, it was just too cool. Hope you like it. 3rd, I'm getting everything ready for the NY Comic Con this week and weekend! If you go, please try and find me. I'll mostly be by the DC Booth, obviously, but I don't like to bother them, so I will be out and about on the floor. Mostly looking for cool Star Wars or Battlestar Galactica stuff. LOL Lastly, I've been getting ready to possibly draw a children's book, so that is HUGE news, and I'll let you know more about that when I can confirm everything about that. But that will be a HUGE step for me, and hopefully I can get that finalized. Other MISC things, are that I'm designing my next tattoo (to go on my shoulder). Gotta send it to Aaron, and see what he says, and then finalize that to get that all set up. Can't wait to do it though. ANd finally, I posted my next Save-the-date Invite I did, that is in the freelance gallery, so check that out too. Hopefully that will lead to more of those too, but only two so far. I'm trying to get the word out on those more, because I know there is a market out there for those. And... what else... ummm... just really busy, as you can see. I'll be in touch again soon, let you know how the convention was, and I'll try to take some pics this year too, bring my camera. We'll see. Thanks so much everyone, peace, cor 3/19/08 - Hey. Just watched a pretty bad movie, but for some reason I really like the francise and I kinda dug it. Maybe it's Mila "Auto-Wash" Jjovovich, but this Resident Evil was the best one yet. Kinda like Mad Max meets Night of the Living Dead or somethin, even though thats giving Resident Evil III: Extinction way too much credit. But I liked it enough to draw a pic of it, and it's the Indy Gallery I. I guess it was her, and the costume I really liked, and because of the comic book, The Walking Dead, I'm really into zombies. But I mean, who isn't, you know?! The coolest one recently was 28 weeks later. That had such a cool opening much like the first movie did. Well, anyway, check out the pic, and I gotta get back to the drawing board, I got sooo many things to draw, just you wait and see, ok? Promise, lots of stuff coming soon. I hope. hahahah lata fools, Cor 3/2/08 - HAH HA! How bout this for work ethic?! I just completed the inks for the two Legion Characters! I just put pen to paper today, and Finished them up! Check them out, same place as the pencils were, in DC Gallery 2. I also put the sketches for Chameleon Boy that got me to the finished piece. Enjoy, Lata, Cor 3/2/08 - Little glitch in the transfer of my entire website over to Dreamweaver CS3, has caused a couple of things to be lost or changed. Working on finding all the things I need to fix, and need to learn that is different then the old 2004 Dreamweaver. This is a BIG step up in programs, so it will take a little while to get back in the groove of things, and hopefully then, the site can be completely revamped, like I've been talking about doing for so long now. Thanks for your patience. Our new Jam piece at work is coming together slowly. Only two of like twelve people have gotten their finished inks in, even though they were due last monday. But thats ok. My two pieces still need to be inked, but you can see the two images in the DC Gallery 2, right on the top there with NEW banners. One is of Chameleon boy, the other is an unknown Legion Character that I will try and find out what his name is. At work, we are all trying to do a second, this time, finished Jam Piece, so hopefully it'll work. Those were my two characters to draw, and I really like how they came out, but for some reason and dreaing inking them. When they are inked I will throw those up there in front too, and also show you some other ideas I had for Chameleon Boy, because I just couldn't get him right at first. The other drawing I posted was an older one that I just finally finished, and there is a long story behind that one. If you want to see it, it's in the Creator Owned Gallery, and it's the last one on the page, with a NEW banner. I know, I know, it's very VERY strange, but it goes with the other character before it, and it was a nightmare I had one night, long ago involving Halle Berry and a Halloween Party in the summer. hahahah Told you, a very long story. But I tried to make a character out of this dream, and then a whole story with those two, so it's kinda a drak comedy story I guess, but who knows if I ever get around to it, considering I have so much I'd like to get to first. I guess that's it for now. I'm really sorry for the two month delay here, what with the superbowl, getting my new computer all set up, and all the programs installed and whatnot. I am still finishing up my brother's portrait for him, should be done with that soon. This jam piece. I'm probably gonna have to ink some people's pieces, or eventually color the whole thing once it's together. Another project that I committed to that I hope comes out ok, but who knows what I am getting involved in. Then some other sketches I have that I hope to finish as well, that have been sitting in my sketchbook for a while now. So a lot to do, actually, and I'm just trying not to let other things in life get in the way of compeleting what I want to compelete, and what I hope to accomplish. Talk to everyone soon, Cor 1/26/08 - MISSING ENTRY 1/16/08 - Oh my GOD! I almost forgot! Please RUN to the comic book store NOW, and pick up your copy of the Green Lantern Corps/ Sinestro Corps Secret Files Origins #1! I have three drawings in the book, along with several of my coworkers. Two of my drawings were colored by Digikore, and one by Art Lyons. I told you all about this before, but now it's totally a reality now that it's out in stores. It can be had for a mere $4.99! LOL Thank you Adam and Eddie, once again for the work and I hope can contribute to something similar in the future. And mad props to my manager, Hank for designing the ENTIRE book, and let me tell you, it was NOT easy with over 200 Green Lanterns! Good work by everyone involved, such as Joe Prado, who contributed a TON of art and color, and they all look AWESOME! Good work Fred, Nick, and Dezi as well! 1/15/08 - See what happens around the holidays and what not? I guess I should say Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to everyone. It was definitly a busy one for me! I got some great stuff this Christmas, including a new light box, and also some computer programs, that I will be able to use very shortly, including the NEW dreamweaver CS3! So, once I'm able to use them, I can't wait to see where I can take the site from here. I hope I can really update this old site, and really make it something that everyone can really enjoy. I hope everyone got a ton of cool stuff for the holidays, and have finally settled into the new year, and 2008. I am finally settled in, and have a lot going on right now. Besides winning my Fantasy Football Tournament on Christmas Day (wait until you see the trophy- I'll post it when I get it from the former winner), my New York Football Giants are in the NFC Championship game, one win away from the SUPERBOWL. Amazing! Thank you, Giants for a great, unexpected season so far! Congrats on getting this far and good luck on Sunday. I think they can do, because it's Kristy's Birthday that day, and that could only mean good things. I'll be very happy on Sunday between celebrating Kristy's 30th, and the Giants playing for glory. Other then football, I saw quite a few movies. Most were just ok, though. I did get excited about a couple in particular, and I've been drawing those. The first of which is up in the Indy Gallery I, and it's Lyra and the Ice Bear from Golden Compass. The fight between the two polor bears in that movie was sooooo kick A$$! It has a "NEW" banner on the thumbnail, so you'll find it there. I am currently reading the books. I am also working on a Sweeny Todd image, that is coming out pretty cool so far, so I should have that up soon too. Be on the look out, because I have a lot of images in progress, so they should come fast and furious here. I'm trying to make up for taking all of December off from drawing as all these images danced in my head. Trying to get them all out on paper and up on the site for you to see finally. The only other new image up is a Cerebus drawing I did. I've been wanting to draw this guy, for god, who knows how long. I finally got some new volumes for Xmas from Kristy, and I finally was able to draw him in something cool. I've tried drawing him before, and although he looks very simple, he is a very VERY hard character for me to draw. Don't know why, he just is. But you can check it out for yourself in the Indy Gallery I, with a "NEW" banner on the thumbnail. I'm really into drawing snow, and snowy backgrounds, so bear with me on that. Kinda like the Punisher costume design I did, with him in the snow. Love that drawing. Well, I guess its back to work for me. I think I have like 4 or 5 drawings that I'm working on, and I will get those up to the site as soon as they are done. Keep an eye out for them, including the Sweeny Todd one. My list of Things I Want to Draw is now very large, and I have uploaded the newest revised one to the site as well, if you want to see what's been interesting me lately. I think thats all for now, Peace, Corey 12/1/07 - For this update, I just want to inform you that I finally figured out the best way to show what images are new in the galleries. My brother had mentioned at Thanksgiving that when I say there is a new image up in a certain gallery, he is still not sure which one I am referring too. Not everyone knows who every characters name is, or for that matter what they look like. I totally agreed with him, so I now have a new way to show you what is NEW. If you go to each gallery, you should look for the thumbnails that have a diagonal red "NEW" sign on them. Those thumbnails are the most recent images I have uploaded to the site. I hope you like it, and I hope it makes it much, much easier to find my latest work, or trying to track down what I am talking about in the News section. Maybe if I even mention an old image in one of the Galleries, I can do something similar, and write something on the thumbnail so you will know what image I am talking about. I know the easiest thing would be to have a link to the image right from here, where I actually talk about it in the news, but that is more of a FLASH thing, and I'm trying not to use Flash just yet. Well, hope that you enjoy this new little "feature", and you can see that the newest pieces I've uploaded in November, have been labelled as such. Talk to you soon, Corey 11/29/07 - Just back from the holidays, I must say it was so wonderful to spend time with my family and friends. It was so great to be home with everyone for the first time, well, ever really. Well, since we've gotten an extended family now. I'm so happy for everyone in my family, especially my siblings. My oldest brother has a beautiful baby girl (what's up, Finster? miss ya), my other brother is engaged, my sister is engaged, and my little brother is graduating in the spring! My father is retiring, and my mom is doing great... everything is perfect. Anyway, on to the update. I just got the color to the Rot Lop Fan piece for the Green Lantern/ Sinestro Corps Secret Files #1. They were done by Art Lyons. He did a great job, I love the brush strokes. Much different then the two pieces colored by Digikore. I'm very happy to have been colored by two very different colorists, and it was such an honor and privalege to be able to do these pieces for Eddie and Adam, my editors. Hopefully, there will be more to come down the road. Be sure to check out the Freelance Gallery for colored pic. Lastly, I put a scan of the Gorilla Grodd Card I did for Upper Deck Worlds Finest set up next to the showacased art. I was able to get it in a pack I bought at the comic store. I'm still trying to track down the Eradicator card, so when and if I find that one, I'll post it up. That's it for now. I'm getting started on that save-the-date next, and hopefully, I can crank out some pin-ups and fan-art of all the other things that have rattling around my brain for a while, before Christmas creeps up on me, an I have no time for anything else. I already have a wedding reception, work xmas party, and a wedding to go to this weekend. WOW! Gonna be a busy month. Til next we talk, Cor PS- Congrats to Aaron on getting engaged, also! 11/19/07 - I'm BACK. Back in the New York groove. LOL Just wanted to update a couple of things. I was able to finish that creator character design, and I posted it up in the creator gallery. Her name is Rene, and she's with her fish buddy, Morton. Thanks to Kristy for helping me name them. I came up with a whole story for them, and also have a villian I am working on that will either scare you to death, or make you laugh out loud. Depends on how liberal you are. HAH The second news, is that my two pieces for the Green Lantern Scret Files #1 have been colored. Still waiting on the third one, but the two being colored by a company called Digikore, are now up in my freelance gallery. Be sure to check them out, because it really, REALLY means a lot to me. Can't wait to see them in the comic, and I want to thank Digikore for the SWEET colors. Can't wait to see the third and final one, being colored by Art Lyons. Thats it for now, but hope to have more for you soon. Working on a couple pieces, about to start that wedding invite, and hopefully, more after that. lata fools, Corey PS- Have a Happy Thanksgiving and I hope it is a good one with all your loved ones and family and friends close by. Can't wait to see my niece Finley this weekend! 11/17/07 - For REAL?! August 10th? I haven't posted or written since August 10th?! Oh god, I'm truly sorry. That is crazy. Again, really sorry for that. There is no excuse for the three month lapse there. There really isn't. But I think I'm back here. I guess the end of the summer, my birthday, and the start of the new school year for my girlfriend, all got in the way of my art and my website. I had no freelance gigs, and I really had very little little drawing done within this lapse of time, but I'm back on the wagon, and have a full plate. I kinda want to start fresh here, because I don't really know where we left off. I will start then by telling you that I got a couple of new pieces posted in the galleries. The first thing we will start out with is the 2 sample images I did for the new Vertigo monthly coming out soon, called House of Mystery. Yes, they are bringing back THAT House of Mystery. I wanted to get in on the ground floor and try my hand at a character I love, Cain, the Caretaker of the House. I did two drawings of him, and they are posted in the DC gallery I. Hope you dig them, they took a lot of blood and sweat to do. Next up is a drawing that I did for Steve Wands. Steve, as you know is my coworker, and he wanted to get together a book of all our artowrk, showcasing all of us in the DC Bullpen. Since it was around the time of Halloween, the theme was monsters. So my contribution is this scarey business man, turning into a skeleton at night in the cemetary. The image is in the Creator Owned Gallery, at the very bottom, last thumbnail. Hope you like it, and hopefully, when Steve is done combining all the pieces, I will be able to show you all the great work that my coworkers did for it. They are really good artists, trust me. Lastly... I think... is actually a REAL, honest to god freelance gig I just recieved. It's actually HUGE news, because my artwork will be featured in a DC Comic, that I will be getting credit for, that is all mine. See, usually my job is to be behind the scenes, and youo're not supposed to really know that I do art cxs and touch up on all the books. So, yes I do contribute art to a lot of books, but in this book, I will have credited pieces that I was hired to do all on my own. The three images I did will be profile pages for the newest Green Lantern Secret Files, called Green Lantern/ Sinestro Corps Scret Files #1. It should be coming out in March 2008, so definitly look for it in stores, and try to find the characters I did pin-ups for. I have posted the three characters in my Freelance Gallery, just the black and white inked versions. When I get the color for them, I will post those. The color, for one of them at least is, I think, being done by Art Lyons. The three characters names are Rot Lop Fan, Olapet, and Zghithii! Check them out, and let me know what you think. I think thats all for now. I need to get back to work. I am right now, working on creator owned drawings, designing a couple of characters I came up with in a dream. Wait til you see these, it's quite weird, I must say. Then It's on to work on a freelance drawing I was hired for. It's another wedding Save the Date Invitation. So I'm totally looking forward to doing that. But those are tough, because they have to be so tight, and realistic, but I always welcome the challenge. So thats been my three month layover, and I hope to never have that happen again anytime soon. Or else, if I go anytime over two weeks without posting, I will at least login, and let you know that I got nothing, at least that way you hear from me at least once a month. Deal? Cool beans, lata then, Corey PS - I also created a link from the homepage to see some personal images that I've uploaded to the site. On this page will just be personal pics and anything I want to just throw up there for you to see. Such as pics of me and Kristy, my two cats (they are sooo funny), and my family, my coworkers... anything I can find. Hope you enjoy! 8/10/07 - On the links page you can now find banners for the following websites, with a direct link in a new window. Iron & the Maiden, Zuda Comics, and Comic Art Community. I have work being shown in all three! More to come, corey 8/9/07 - Just put a link on the Home Page to take you to the Zuda Comics website, where you can check out my postcard, now on display for all to see. Click on the link to take you there. Hope all is well, be in touch soon, Cor 8/5/07 - Hey Gang, Some cool news to report! I sent my fan-art drawings to Iron & the Maiden creator, Jason Rubin, and he LOVED them. So much, in fact that he posted them up at his ironandthemaiden.com website (which is an amazingly well done site, by the way). You can see my drawings on the site, under INFO, and then they are in the BLOG, as you scroll down. You can also comment on them in the FORUMS! I Just want to give a BIG shout out to Jason, and thank him again for putting my artwork on the site, along side my idol, Joe Mad! And whatever you do, don't miss out on the book, Iron and the Maiden, from Aspen Comics. Ok, so yea, that was cool. You can link directly to the blog from my home page, by the way. I also posted two drawings, that kind of stem from the same idea. You see, I was asked to do a Spider-Man commission, and I started it, and liked it so much, I did about three different versions of it. The first one is the actual commission that I gave to the client, and it can be seen in the freelance gallery. Then I liked it so much, I went all out and did two versions of it. I flipped Spidey upside down, and pencilled a background of the City of Chicago in there, from a view I saw from the Sears Tower! I then put the black costume version I did for the client in on Photoshop, and got a Black Spider-Man in Chicago variant. HAH HA. Nice, right? I also put the original inks, and pencils for the all of these under that, and this is all in the Marvel Gallery to see. Hope you like them! Buildings are always fun to do, but take a LONG, LONG time. Yet it is always worth it, because they come out looking beautiful when completed! Thats all I can post right now, even though I have more stuff done. The stuff I got done was the top secret project I was working on. If everything works out, I will let you know what that was all about, and I can post the drawings I did. Until then, I must wait, so sorry about that. They are actually at least two of my best pieces to date, the few who have seen it tell me. So that's something to look forward to seeing, I hope sooner, rather then later. So sorry about that. Right now, I am going to start some sequential story pages for some samples, since I haven't don any in a real long time, and I feel I should be doing some story telling. I have some scripts, so we'll see. Other then that, I guess it's back to my list, of which I have updated and posted for you to see. So much I want to draw, it's ridiculous. Hopefully, I will talk to you all again soon, so stay in touch as always, ok? Oh, and go see Stardust, it's a lot of fun! peace, Corey 7/23/07 - The Iron & the Maiden piece is DONE! Finally! It's up in the Indy 2 gallery. Sorry it took so long. I'm gonna try and pass both the Michael Iron piece and this one on to the creator of the book, on his myspace page, see what he thinks. I'll let you know if he responds. I have more stuff to show, but they are not yet ready to be unvailed. I have a Spider-Man Commission I am doing, and the pencils are done, but I have to do the inks for him. I'll show you all those when they are done, so you can see them all at once. It would also be rude of me to post it before the buyer has even seen it, so I have to wait til August 8th, when I will give it to him. So you can see it then. I am working on two little creator owned character designs, which are almost pencilled. I hope to have those fleshed out soon. I also need to create some characters for a possible Zuda Comics pitch I am working on. I have the subject matter and title, just need to flesh out the main characters on that one. Lastly, I am working on that top secret project of mine. I have the splash page pencilled, all the line-work is done. I'm gonna show some people, get some remarks, and suggestions, then finish up the shading on it. It's coming out very good, i must say. In conjunction with that, I am working on a smaller piece, of the same subject matter, and that is all sketched out, gonna go to final pencils tonight or tomarrow. But that is it for now. Sorry you only get to see that one delayed piece. All the other stuff mentioned above, I will post as soon as I'm done, so check back soon... Peace, Corey PS - All caught up on the Walking Dead comics, and I can't stress how HIGHLY i recommend this book! AMAZING stuff! 7/16/07 - Corey here, and BOY, do I have a lot of updates and posts for ya! I'll get right into it! First, I was able to convince Steve (with a little help from Kristy wanting him to color another one of my pieces) to color the Pan's Labyrinth drawing I did for Dezi. He totally knocked it outta the park, and really captured the mood of the movie in the piece. It is perfect, thank you Steve, I owe you for this one! Everyone can check it out in the freelance gallery. Speaking of the freelance gallery, I totally had to rearrange the images, and expand it to include all these updates. It was mainly because I FINALLY added the images to my next two VS. Series cards for DC/ Upper Deck. Although the cards are not yet out in stores, I thought I'd give you all a preview of the artwork that I did for them. The cards will be out soon, and you can be sure I will post up what they look like when I get them, as I did for the Sensor Card. I hope you like them, it seems so long since I did them, and I finally get to post them. So check out my version of Grodd, and the Eradicator, coming to a comic store, gaming shop near you! The other drawings I did were for DC Comics new imprint, Zuda Comics. It has been very contraversial so far, in the fact that they are holding an online contest, ala American Idol, to be the next comic superstar. It's a long and complicated process, that would take too long to describe here, so I will let DC Comics do it for me. Visit the site and learn all about Zuda Comics at, www.zudacomics.com! The pieces you see were done on small postcards, that hopefully will be used on the Zuda website to promote the new imprint. I will let you know if either or both of my cards have been selected to go on the site. They are giving away these postcards to the general public soon, to draw whatever you would like, to hopefully get posted on the website to promote what some people are calling the future of comics. Online comics... I'm more of a traditional comic fan myself, having to want to hold an actual book, but I congradulate DC on trying to venture out into this market. Maybe I will give it a shot, and try to win a year contract to pencill for them, but considering my employment already, I think I'm just gonna have to be content with these promotional pieces. The Batman one by the way is a re-drawing of an old Batman piece I had done before, if you recognize it. The Huntress is a new one, although I took my old sketch from the Batman Poster I never got around to finishing. OK! Next up is a post of some of the recent work I did for Greggles, Inc. I did some more freelance for his company, designing snowboard gear, and you can see some samples and patent drawings. Lastly, as far as new material goes, I saw Harry Potter this last weekend, and HAD to draw the final battle between Harry and Voldemort, just because it was so cool! I have some big problems with the Harry potter francise in general, that I wont go into here, but I still like the movies, and more so all the characters. The last movie, the Order of the Phoenix, was ok, but got REALLY good when the final battle began. It's what I, and I'm sure many fans have been waiting five movies for. Some great lines in there too, one of which I had to add to the drawing. Check out my version of the battle (little spoiler warning on this one, too! HAH HA) in the Indy Gallery II. And go see the movie! I know all the fans will know the ending of the francise by saturday, but I am not caught up on all the Harry books, so I will be left out in the cold on this one. Oh, well. I'm hoping Harry kills Volemort, but sucums to death himself, and goes out a hero, but I guess we'll see soon enough. Thats it for new stuff thats up. As far as stuff I'm working on... still got that Splash page I am working on, but I am just about ready to start the final piece. Gotta spend my time on this one though. I also have a commission I am doing of Spider-Man that I will ink. The sketch is done. I also need to freakin' finish that Iron & the Maiden two-pager that's taking FOREVER! And finally, I have some design stuff I am doing related to the big splash page I mentioned above. I think thats it. Whew... didn't think I'd get through all that. As usual, I will keep in touch as soon as I have more to post! And as always, I hope it's sooner rather then later! Take it easy all, til next time... Corey PS - Check out joemadfan.com for some AMAZING designs of Vigil Games' new Darksiders video game! Joe Mad! is a friggin' GOD! I wish I could draw like that, hot damn. 7/11/07 - Corey here. Got some stuff to show ya. I am almost done with everything I've had for the past month. I have one more to go, actually, so after that, I actually will be MIA for a while to work on all the samples I want to do. But here I am to show you one of the two Iron and the Maiden drawings I was working on. This first one is on Michael Iron, by himself. A character created by the Mad man himself, Joe Mad, and the creator of the Jax video game, Jason Rubin, Michael Iron is a really cool character to draw. The drawing is up in the Indy gallery 2, for you to see. Last time I talked to you, I had mentioned that my coworker Steve Wands had shown an interest in inking my Spawn/ Batman piece. Well, he didn't ink it, but he did color the SH!T out of it! He colored off the pencils and did it in a really REALLY cool digitally painted style, and it came out really awesome. As you can tell from the color that is posted in the Indy Gally 2, as well, Steve is a really good artist who I have the pleasure to be able to work with every day. Hope you like it, and be sure to check out his comic space site, which you can visit from my links page. In other news, the forums are down still. When I have some free time I have to talk to my friend Rob to see whats wrong with them, since his forums run perfectly. Only other news I can think of is this Zuda Comics thing everyone seems to be talking about. I have a lot to say about this new venture, as well as what it means to me, if anything. But it's late, and I spent all night uploading those two images. I will be done with the second Iron drawing this weekend I hope, and will talk about Zuda then. One last thing before I go... Congrats to my love, Kristy on her NEW job! I knew you were gonna get it, and I'm so happy for you! Love you so much. Bye... Corey 7/7/07- Happy 7-7-7 day! I promised I would post something new this week, and here I am. No long break like last time, this was only 5 days, and considering it was a holiday, 5 days ain't bad. I finished the Spawn/ Batman piece I was working on. It was just going to be an experimental piece of Batman, that I wanted to go all "Sienkiewicz" on, but I picled up the Spawn/ Batman Statue last weekend, and the piece turned into a tribute to that kinda. Let me tell you though, this statue is AWESOME! So happy to add it to my collection. So I guess I didn't get to "cut loose" on this piece like I wanted to, but I'm kinda happy with how it came out. It still has a lot of energy. My coworker Steve kind of thinks so, and he said he wants to ink this piece for me. So that will be cool if he does. Anyway, check it out for yourself, in the Indy Gallery II. And also check out that staue by DC Comics/ McFarlane, it's really sweet. I saw two more movies, Transformers and Ratatouille. I could go on and on about Transformers and what I thought, but you probably don't really care. It is what it is, and that is a fun, cool movie, with amazing CGi & effects, and I did like a lot of things about it. But Ratatouille is the movie I have to tell you to go see RIGHT NOW! You want to see a good movie, it is this one. Pixar is the BEST, BEST at what they do, and what they do is make movies that are 98% better then every movie ever made. It doesn't matter that it's animated, that is just icing on the cake for this movie. This is a movie that I will be watching with my grandkids, because it is THAT good. I want to see it again right NOW, I can't say enough about how perfect this masterpiece is. Ok, it's back to work. I'm gonna try to finish up those 2 Iron & the Maiden pieces, and then I will be all caught up on the drawings I've been talking about for weeks now. Then I may fall off the internet map for a while, because like I said, I have a top secret project I'll be working on. I can tell you that one of them is a cover-like splash page/ illustration, and the others will be about 4 pages of sequentials, that I will hopefully be using as samples. If they come out good enough. Well, I guess it's not so top secret now. LOL oh, well. I wanted to tell you what it was becuae it will take some time to do, and I wont be doing much else besides that, so after the Maiden stuff, that's where I'll be. Alrighty, peace out, corey 7/2/07 - Hi. I did it again, huh? I let too much time pass. I tell you, it's hard to keep up a website. Life just gets in the way. It's not even from a lack of work, it's just taken me a while to finish the pieces I was working on, then post them, then get to work on the site. And I haven't been able to do that because I've just been so busy. And for good reason though. Kristy and I went to visit my brother and his wife, to see their wonderful new baby girl, Finley! She is so cute. She has this little toy that is so cool too, called the Flutterbug. I totally want to do a drawing or a cartoon for her about this Flutterbug. That'd be fun. But it was great to see my bro, and his new addition to the family. Chicago is quite the city. Kristy and I had a BLAST. Definitly visit there, it's like NYC only cleaner, with less, and nicer people. Since I got back, I'm trying to catch up on all those drawings I freakin' promised. So I am almost done with most of them, so HOPEFULLY I can get them posted one by one here. The first of which is up, and that's the Silver Surfer. The movie came out, and although I didn't see it completely yet, I have a bootleg copy, and we watched some of it, and it looks AWFUL. I hated the first movie. Childish crap. But I had higer hopes for the sequal, because of my love for the Surfer, and also the trailer looked sooo cool. But alas, the movie blows. Oh, well! But check out my rendition of the cosmic hero in the Marvel Gallery. As far as movies go, I saw Live Free or Die Hard, and it was AWESOME! It was like 24 mixed with 300, on crack! I know people will say it was very cartoony, and he'd be dead 100 times over, but who CARES, the action was INCREDIBLE, the charcter kicked A$$, and the dialogue was right on! I'm a HUGE Die Hard fan, and although he was now like a super hero, it was one of the BEST action movies EVER. Damn, I was sooo pumped watching it. My heart was beating a mile a minute in that theater, and didn't stop til I was finally able to go to sleep, and we saw a 10pm showing. Go see this movie NOW! Ok, gotta go for now, but I will touch base as soon as the next drawing is done. Not gonna say when that will be, but it will be less then a month, because I have a huge project coming up thats top secret, and will take up a lot of time. So I gotta get these silly drawings out of the way, and focus of this comic illustration I want to do. Oh, that reminds me. Remmeber I said I was gonna do another card real soon? Well, that actually feel through. Sucks, I know, but out of my control. It's ok though, hopefully they will make it up to me in the next set after. Would've been a real tight deadline anyway, if I got one. But this new illutration may lead to some great opportunities, so I am excited about that, so keep your fingers crossed for me! Talk to you soon, Cor PS- It was also, mine and Kristy's three year anniversary June 19th. Love you baby girl! :-) 6/12/07 - Well HELLO THERE! I'm back, as you can tell! By "very soon" I meant about a month later on that update from May 1st. LOL No, I didn't mean for that to happen. I mean, wow, more then a month without me, however did anyone survive? LOL I'm really sorry, for all those who noticed I've been gone so long, I guess, as they usually say, time sure does fly. I wasn't even having that much fun. Oh well. What have I been doing, you may ask? Hmmm, I don't know. After the Snake-Eyes piece was done, I kinda got artists' block, and didn't draw much for a week or two. Mostly just focused on my ful time job, and home life. I think I then started to draw a pic of the Maxx, the old Image Comic and MTV show, but I got really fustrated with that and scrapped it. I may try my hand at it again once I knock the rust off from this month off. I then started drawing about 5 drawings at once, trying to get some ideas going and I am just now finishing those up, since it's taken about two weeks to do. The first two of those five, Gambit and Forerunner, are done, and have been posted. I am just loving Mike Carey's run on Marvel's X-Men, and the main reason is because Chris Bachalo draws the book, with Humberto Ramos doing the fill-ins. But I really dig the "vertigo-esqe" take on the X-Men Carey is doing. This month is the return of Gambit to the pages, after a long couple of years of writers not knowing what to do with him, and crapping all over him. Finally we get the real Canjun back! I'm a HUGE Gambit fan. He is probably the one character, besides Batman, to get me hooked on comics. I had a friend who loved the X-Men and showed me his collection, after getting hooked on Batman from the Tim Burton movie. I had gone home and found one of my brothers comics, and X-Man issue, that turned out to be the 1st appearance of Gambit. I feel in love with the character after Jim Lee's run, especially issue #275 of Uncanny. Him taking out the Galdiator? AWESOME. Then Joe Mad's run of coarse. As you can see by my Gambit, I am heavily influenced by Joe's version. My Gambit drawing can be found in the Marvel Gallery. As for Forerunner, this is a NEW DC Comics character. Honestly, I haven't been a fan of everything that we are doing with our main DC line, after 52. But I am really psyched about this new character coming out of Countdown. Her name is Forerunner, and she is a blue looking elf. I like her already! Be sure to check her out in Countdown, and look for her to appear all over the DCU very soon after. That drawing of her is in the 1st DC Gallery. As for some books I am reading this past month, that I think EVERYONE should be reading, is of coarse X-Men. Also I'm caught up on the Walking Dead, and that book is really REALLY awesome! Thanks for recommending it, Steve. I am also LOVING the Spirit, by DC and Darwyn Cooke. Buffy, BPRD, and Outer Orbit, which just finished up by Dark Horse are all stellar books. And finally, although I have never read the series (maybe someday), Stephen King's Dark Tower from Marvel is really good. Evn if you don't understand the story, the art is WELL worth the price! I think thats it for now. Since I've been woring on those five drawings all at once, I will be finishing them all up at one after the other. They include two Iron and the Maiden drawings, and anew Batman piece, that I am experimenting with, and hopefully will get something a little more "bill sienkiewicz" with. Meaning more loose. Need to get a little more loose. Til I do, sorry for the month delay, you PAL, Corey Breen PS - I will have a big announcement soon on doing more RPG Cards in the near future. Can't wait to tell you when the World's Finest Set is coming out too, so I finally post those, and have the finished cards in our hands. I am also working on another Freelance gig for Greggeles, Inc., so I will be very busy this month with that. PPS - Kristy and I finally get to see Finely next week in Chicago!!! YEAY!!! Vacataion, YEAY! 5/1/07 - Hey! I have a ton of things to do tonight, so I will just tell you that I posted the pencils to the GI Joe piece with Snake-Eyes, Timber, and Storm Shadow up in the in Indy 1 Gallery FINALLY. It's just the pencils, cause I still haven't done the background, and I don't know when I will find the time to do the inks and colors for the piece, if ever. I hope to get around to it, but for now, you're just gonna have to settle for the pencils. I have so much to do, so I gotta jet, but I will give a much bigger update very soon, like I usually do, Corey 4/24/07 - I uploaded the grey tones and inks for the Batman Commission I did! You can see the entire process in reverse for this one, as you scroll down. You can see what it took to get to the final stage, which I'm really happy with. By far, my best attempt at Batman ever. Hope you like it, it's all in the Freelance Gallery. Snakes NEXT! No, really... I'm serious! Cor PS- Finally got a chance to take a pic of my forearm, now that my tattoo has completly healed. You can see a pic of the art on my arm in the Creator Owned Gallery if you scroll down after the original design drawings. 4/23/07 - Got a little side-tracked this weekend, sorry. I was supposed to post the Batman Commission I did for a coworker's 10 year old son. Keep drawing Cole! It's up now in the freelance Gallery, which I had to move around some things to fit. I'm gonna have to make an all new main Galleries Page because the main ones have started to fill up. It's not working having DC 1, DC 2, Indy 1, Indy 2, and so on... I'll have to make a new listing to have all the galleries the same amount of images. More work to do I guess, I'll see whnen I can get to that, but it is what it is for now. So enjoy that pic, enjoy the weather, and I will try to freakin' finish the GI Joe piece, cause thats just DRAGGIN' on forever. Sorry. I wanted to ink it and color it, but I don't know if I'll be able to do all that. Just gonna finish the pencils finally, and see if I ever get around to it. Mainly because I need to find more freelance work to do, so my fun is gonna have to take a back seat... I'll be in touch soon, Corey 4/19/07 - No time to really go into anything right now, so I just wanted to let you know that I finished the Bowser & Blitz C.O.P.S. drawing and posted to the Indy Gallery I. Always wanted to draw Blitz, so there he is, hope you like it. I am doing a Batman commission, so I think I should have that posted tomarrow, and then I'll do my very best to finish the Snake-Eyes GI Joe piece. I gotta run, but lastly I just want to say how happy I am for My brother and his wife on their little baby girl born today, Finley Elizabeth Breen! I'm so excited for then, my family, and I'm so psyched to be an Uncle! Congrats Rob and Whitney, love you both! I'll see you all soon! Uncle Corey 4/17/07 - Lion-O is done! C.O.P.S. drawing is next, then the GI Joe piece. I'm also about to start the background and the inks for the Jam piece at work. Thought you thought I would forget about that thing, huh? Goes to show you what happens when you rely on other people to get stuff done. LOL So Lion-O is the latest image added, but it may be a little hard to find. MAJOR UPDATE ALERT! Well, not that major. What I did was split the Indy Gallery into two galleries. Much like I did what the DC Comics Gallery, the main one got full, so I created a second one. I also combined the Video Game Gallery (mainly because it was so small) into this new Indy II gallery. Hope you are all following this... LOL So basically, there is no more Video Game Gallery, and there are now TWO Independant Galleries. Simple enough, right? The Lion-O piece is in the first Indy Gallery. Hope you like it, it was a blast to draw. He may have to be second to Snake-Eyes in my eyes, such an AWESOME character. I think I updated my resumes again (AGAIN), updated my To Draw List (removing everything that I completed so far), and finally, I updated my comicspace.com and myspace.com links. Be sure to check those out! Oh, one last thing, I almost forgot... I haven't got a date for the World's Finest DC/ Upper deck Set to come out, so I can't reveal my Eradicator and Grodd Cards yet. I hate that I can't post those yet, especially since it's now been a while since I did them, but as soon as I know when I can show them, you betcha they will be up in the Freelance Gallery! No news on a new set AFTER World's Finest either, so thats up in the air too ight now. Everyone needs to light a fire under Upper Deck... LOL That is it for tonight, I think, I'm POOPED! Worked all day, drew, and now updating all night, so time to watch the tube with Kris... Nite everyone, enjoy the site as usual, Corey 4/16/07 - I'm back! I haven't posted all week, and I guess you been wondering where I was... I'm sure. I didn't have anything to post last week, so I've been hard at work trying to finish all the drawings I've been working on. The GI Joe drawing is coming along, albiet slowly. I told you that one may take awhile because I'm trying to really knock that one outta the park. It's coming out very cool, I just need that background settled. I would've have it done by now, but like I always do, I started like three other drawings. Along with GI Joe, I became very obsessed with the 80's last week. I got very nostalgic, and started drawing all things 80's! I started a Lion-O drawing, thats kickin' a$$, and then I started a C.O.P.S. drawing of bowser and Blitz (remember that show?) who I've always wanted to draw, and finally, I drew Strawberry Shortcake. Yes, Strawberry Shortcake. I decided to do that one for my girlfriend, Kristy, and don't be surprised if I ink and color that one for her too. She always bugs me to draw something for her, so that one was for her. I will be finishing up the Lion-O and C.O.P.S. drawings and posting them this week. The Shortcake drawing is now up in the Indy Gallery! After I finish those, it's back to the GI Joe piece, and then I got a whole bunch of other things to start, as well as work on my Wedding Invite Ideas. Busy Bee... Corey PS- Happy Birthday MOM! I love you! 4/5/07 - HAH HA! Spawn is up! I finished it today. Told you I would! LOL To find it, go to the Spawn pic in the Indy Gallery and scroll down til you see the new finished pencils, with the sketch now being underneath that. OK, no more Spawn, woo hoo! Now back to the Snake Eyes/ Storm Shadow piece, which I'm gonna transfer to Bristol, because I really wanna do this piece right. Talk to you later, Corey 4/4/07 - Well, I was SUPPOSED to finish the Spawn pencils, and what happened? You guessed it, my short attention span reared it's ugly head, and I wound up starting a new piece. I just started drawing Marvel Comics Cloak and Dagger. The good news is, I did it really quickly, and I think it came out great. I posted in the Marvel Gallery, so check it out! Now I will definitly try and finish Spawn. I also started drawing an 8.5 X 14 inch drawing of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. I have the drawing of them, along with Timber, and now I just need a background, and then I need to shade it in. It coming out really cool, and I'm very happy with it so far, because honestly these are my three FAVORITE characters of all time, bar none. Out of every comic character, movie character, whatever, these three and at the top! I can't believe it took me this long to draw them, but it's on it's way! So I guess that makes two drawings I started without finishing Spawn, but oh, well. I will try to do it during American Idol tonight. LOL But I went to the comic store, and now I wanna read too, so we'll see. I will have it this week though, PROMISE! The Snake Eyes piece will take me a longer time to do though, and I wanna make it good. I may even ink and color it, too, just because they deserve the full treatment. Well, gotta go for now, talk to you all in a bit! Corey 4/2/07 - Finally, Luke Cage is done! The finished pencils had his wife, Jessica Jones, but I just didn't like how it came out in the end. It just looked funny for some reason, I dunno. So I took her and the baby out of the drawing, after I scanned it. I'm much happier with this version, so thats the one I am posting in the Marvel Gallery. If you saw the original, I think you'd agree. But I'm moving on from that piece, so there is no reason to show it to you. It is what it is now, I guess I'm telling you waht happened so it gives the balloon in the drawing some context. Little inside joke, I guess. I now have all the New Avengers done, so I will see about that idea of putting them all together and creating that two page splash. Next up is finishing the pencils for the Spawn piece, finally. Then believe it or not, I started a Cloak and Dagger piece, god knows why... I have a ton of new things I added to the to-draw list, and that's getting so long, I'll never get to everything, but oh, well. I just draw what I wind up drawing, so it's good to have done things I would like to draw someday, I dunno. I will be pretty busy for a while, because I am gonna try and promote the portraits angle of my business, and try to make that a main focus. Theres a huge market out there I'm sure, so I'm gonna try and push that part of my frelancing, see what I can do. But I will always be in touch here, so keep checking back with the site! Corey PS- Happy Birthday DAD! Love you! 3/30/07 - The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles drawing is now up in the Indy Gallery, please try and find it. Still trying to figure out a way to flag the new images so they are easy to find, but until then, think of it like an easter egg hunt! I am so close to finishing the Luke Cage piece, I promise, so that iwll be up by monday. I just need to put a cool background in. Then the Avengers will be done, and I can see about putting them together all in a spread. The other spread, the JAM piece, is also ALMOST done. My coworkers are taking forever, but thats ok, it will be worth it. I will soon be able to post the pencils, right after Fred and Lauren draw their characters. So, two left... Other then that, I will be getting my new addition to my arm, a continuation of my tattoo tomarrow, and you can see the design in the creator owned gallery. I will take a pic of my arm when it heals, and post that, so you can see the real life art. Flalin is doing the tattoo itself, so check out his website which you can get through on my Links page. Can't wait... SO hears hoping my arm is not sore enough to do everything else I want to do this weekend, and I will talk to you very soon, Breener 3/27/07 - One more New Avenger to go! I just uploaded the Echo finished drawing to the Marvel Gallery, so I just need to finish the Luke Cage, and I will have done all eight New Avengers. Then I can see about putting them all together in my own spread. Check out Echo for now, though. Other news; The Jam piece is coming along slowly, so nothing new to report there. The Spawn piece is done, and is all posted in the Indy gallery, from sketch to finished. I think I'm gonna finish the pencils on that too, just for the hell of it. Let me know how you thought the finished white on black board came out though. Not as happy as I wanted to be with it, but it was still fun to do, and I still like the idea and drawing. Also, I posted what an update on one of my designs in the creator owned gallery, so check that out. It will soon be a continuation of my tattoo that started with the design below what I have updated since. I think thats it for now. So I have three drawings I will try to finish this week, the Cage, Spawn's pencils, and I also have an almost complete TMNT, in honur of the movie. Oh, one last thing... to make it easier to find the NEWEST additions to the galleries, I will be making a tag. It will be like a red flag, that says "NEW", and it will be in front of anything new that I added in the galleries. I think that will make it easier for return visitors, where they can see if a new drawing has been posted. I think that will be cool, instead of just having to read my non-sense in the news and try and find the newest drawing I tell you I posted. That, and I'm sure no one knows who Echo is, so how would they know which drawing to click on. I think this flag will help with that, so I will work on doing that. Til then, Corey 3/23/07 - I was hoping to have a LOT of things to show you today, but I had a very tiring, busy week, and only got around to a couple of things. I fisnished the Iron Fist drawing. That is now up in the Marvel Gallery. I am still finishing Luke Cage and Echo (should be done very, very soon). I have a bunch of layouts for a whole slew of characters, but I promise not to get to anything new until I finish all that. I aslo worked on that Spawn piece I was telling youo about earlier in the week. I am still finishing it, but you can check out the white line drawing on the black board, as well as the sketch for the drawing in the Indy Gallery. The final piece is coming out pretty cool, I just have to work out some kinks. I will add that to the Spawn page when its done, and of course, I will let you know when that is. Wont be til sometime mid next week. The only other things I did to the site were updates. Updated my resumes, Wind colors, Goon washes, and finally, I added on the sketch that was done by me for the JAM piece we are still working on, with all my coworkers. Since we work all day, it's very hard to find free time for all the different artists to continue it, but I promise it will get done. It's coming out pretty cool already. Four of the eight artists are done with their pencils, with four more to go. Ok, I better go, get back to work on finishing Cage and Echo... lata, Cor 3/19/07 - Well, I was able to get one finished today. The final 300 drawing is UP! This is the one that I just LOVED doing, and I am really happy with how it turned out. Gory, emotional, in-your-face, just like the movie, and I just think the piece captures that adrenalin rush I was hoping for. Hope you like it. It is in the Indy gallery, of course. Next, I'm finsihing the Luke Cage piece. Then I will try to finally get all the New Avengers done, by doing an Iron Fist, and an Echo drawing. Then I can try to finally put together that double page spread combing all of them. Other then that, I am starting on another experimental piece, this one with Spawn. Been a long, LONG time since I drew Spawn, and I think what I have in mind for it will ROCK. Came to me in a dream. I will be doing a half-figure profile, all in white colored pencil, on black illustration board. I can't wait to get started. I have the sketch done, just need to transfer it, and get started. It's basically a negative image piece, with the normal blacks all set since it is a black piece of paper, and I just need to add the highlights. I'm hoping it will come out how I expect, and if it does it will look really cool, trust me. I haven't done white on black paper since college, so I hope I'm not too rusty, but I remember enjoying doing them, and that I was kinda good at it, so we'll see. I'll keep yoou posted, as per usual! Til then, It's ME, baby, ME, Corey 3/18/07 - Ok. I worked on the site the ENTIRE weekend practically, continuing the slow yet steady updates I've been talking about. I revamped a lot of things, and I fixed about everything in all galleries, so there is just too much to mention here. I think the only thing that is completely new is that I finally finished the African American CAptain America drawing I had only sketched that was in the Marvell Gallery, and I guess you can't really consider that "new". I still have to finish the one 300 pic, and the Luke Cage pic, which I know I promised for this weekend, but I got caught up in the other updates I had to do. I think the site is much better overall now, and I'm pretty happy with all the little tweaks here and there, that I'm sure no one will notice, but trust me, it has made the site better to navigate and use. I will have those two pics for you either tomarrow or wednesday, and I then I have much to do from there, so I will talk to everyone then, Hope you had a great weekend, Corey 3/14/07 - It's very late right now, and I've been working on the website for hours now. I need to be able to get up for work in a couple of hours, so I'm not gonna say much. I'll just list the updates that I did tonight, down below. I don't have the three drawings done yet, that I talked about the other day, but they will be up by this weekend, promise! UPDATES: 1. Hellboy Profile in Pen & Ink and Ink Wash on cardboard (NEW) uploaded to Indy Gallery. 2. Season of the Witch Color Pin-Up added to Indy Gallery. 3. Afro Samurai drawing touched-up. 4. Battlestar Galactica drawing touched up. 5. Pan's Lab drawing touched up. 6. Spidey & Moon Knight drawings placed within their final color pieces. 7. Batman Beyond drawing added to the DC II Gallery. 8. Stargirl inks added underneath Stargirl color piece. 9. Invincible color image touched up. 10. Bouche updated and fixed, now with a background, in the Creator Owned Gallery. 11. Shana from Legend of the Dragoon, uploaded to the Videogame Gallery. 12. Dante from Devil May Cry, upload to Videogame Gallery. 13. Wasteland Digital Inks, and pencils re-uploaded to the Indy Gallery. 14. Updated Copyright Info. Oh, and FINALLY, 15. Not his website, but I got Steve Wands, my coworker, to join comicspace, so he can put up some of his works in the gallery there, so please check it out, some amazing stuff he does. The Link to his "site" in now on my Links Page. Oh, and before I forget, I made a link on the main galleries page, that says, "View My To Draw List". That was the word doc I was telling you all about that is my list of ALL the things I want to draw! Please feel free to see how long it is, suggest which one I should do next, or that you'd like to see me do, add, or plead against any of them, or just take bets on how old I will be when I finsih all them on the list! LOL Well, I gotta go to bed now, so talk to you in a couple of days! Lots more updating to come as well... All the best, Corey 3/12/07 - Still reeling from 300. I think I'm finally starting to cool off, thankfully. I was either ready to draw like a madman, or fight someone. Luckily i decided to release all that adrenaline onto paper. I was working on three drawings all at the same time today! That's how much I was pumped up by what I still say is the BEST movie I've EVER seen, and will see. So it comes as no surprise that I'm drawing 300. I have two drawings I'm doing, just because I couldn't contain my excitment for the movie, and had two ideas I wanted to do. I am still working on one of them, and one is finished and posted in the Indy Gallery now, so check it out! It's inspired by the best shot in the movie, I think, where the soldier jumps out of the pile of shields toward the end! I'll post the second image up, hopefully tomarrow. I also continued trying to draw all the New Avengers, and I finished the Dr. Strange I told you about. It is up in the Marvel Gallery. I started the Wolverine one, and the Luke Cage one, so I will be posting those in the next couple of days, once I finish those up. Thats all for now, so check back for the three drawings I mentioned that will be up this week, and for the love of god, GO SEE 300!! This is Sparta, Corey Breen 3/10/07 - Oh boy, where do I start? I guess, first of all, go see 300 RIGHT NOW! and then after that, see it again! I now have an all-time favorite movie, and it is called 300!! I'm sure I'll be doing a drawing of them next week, and I'm gonna try to see it again in IMAX. This movie was everything I've ever wanted in a movie, and everything that I would want my movie/ comic book to be. I always said my main creator owned book would be a cross between Braveheart and Star Wars, but now I'll just say 300! It was like a dream come true movie for me, and I lose my breath thinking about it, so I will move on to another topic. LOL We are finally in full swing on the JAM piece at work. I did the layouts, and now it is going around to each artist for their character rendition. I did Ronin, and I have my contribution posted separately in the Marvel Comics Gallery. When the final piece is done, I will post that as well, so you can see all the different artists, and where my character fits on it. Because I'm diggin' this New Avengers line-up we are drawing in the Jam Piece, I've been inclined to just draw all the characters myself as well. I may even put them all together to form my own 2 page splash of the New Avengers. So far I would have this Ronin I did, the Spider-Man one I did last week, and the Spider-Woman drawing I am posting to the Marvel Gallery right now. I am currently finishing a Dr. Strange right now, too. That means I will still have to do my own reditions of Wolverine, Luke Cage, Echo, and the Iron Fist. So that will be cool to do too, once I do all the characters myself. It's not that I want to compare it to the Jam Piece, but just because I really want to draw all the characters myself, not just Ronin. Last, but CERTAINLY not least, I want to tell you that I posted that freelance gig I did for the Save-the-date wedding invitation. I just want to say that it really came out perfect, and that's mainly due to my client, JLK Creative. AMazing job Jason, and I'm really happy for you, your fiance, and for including me in something that you can cherish for the rest of your life. I hope everyone likes it, because I'm very proud of the finished product. I think thats it for now. I really on't know what to say, because I'm still just completly speechless after last night's viewing of 300! There is one battle scene, with a father and son tandem, that was the BEST fight scene EVER put to film, and the most amazing jaw-dropping, visually STUNNING, brutal, beautiful, violent thing that I have ever seen, and it is now my favorite scene in a movie EVER. WOW... Here comes Spring! Corey OUT! 3/6/07 - So, I'm exhausted. Just trying to keep up with Steve at work, is becoming very hard to do. I know I have so much to do, but evertime I turn around, Steve has done a new drawing, and it's so great, because it's nice to have someone who motivates you to do really great pieces, and to really challenge yourself to be a better artist. He is really inspiring me to keep pace with him, and draw as much as possible, because, that is what really does make me happy. It's definitly, as I've said before, my personal therapy. Fore example, the other day, Steve ran out of paper in his drawing pad, so he decided to darw on the cardboard backing of his sketchbook. He did Black Adam from 52 in a pen and ink wash on the cardboard, with some whiteout for high-lights, and it came out AWESOME! It was really just aexperiment, but it happened to really work out, and be a really strong piece, with the tones of the ink wash, drying into the nice mono-chromatic brown of the cardboard. I kid you not, it worked just as well as toned paper. So I just had to steal the idea from him! LOL I decided to go to my list of things I want to draw (which reminds me, I should post that list, so you can see it, and maybe even suggest who you would want me to do next...) to do a piece on cardboard. I choose to do Eric Powell's The Goon from Dark Horse Comics, just because the artist of the book draws the character in tones a lot anyway. So I did a pencil drawing, got my layout, and then did the inks right on to the cardboard. I then (just like my marker pieces) started the ink wash. You can see this whole process when you go to the Indy Gallery and click on The Goon thmbnail! The ink wash is the first drawing there, and then scroll down to find the original inks, and then the sketch. It was my first ink wash since college (about 8 years now), so I know if I did another piece like, I get better, but I'm very happy with how it came out considering! Now it's back to the layouts, which I now promised everyone at work I will do tomarrow, so, check back again soon, and I hope that in the meantime, Steve didn't paint the wall of a baby room with super-heroes, because I don't know if I can top that... Lata, Corey PS- 300 on FRIDAY! I have a feeling it's gonna be my favorite movie of all time, surpassing braveheart, I can just FEEL it! Hopefully I finish those layouts before the movie, because, you know me, I'm gonna wanna draw some SPARTANS! 3/2/07 - At work we were talking about Spider-Man and if the costume he wore in the Spider-Man 2099 comic series was cool or not. A lot of people liked it, and although I thought it was ok, I believed that if it was the year 2099, he should have a much more futuristic costume. It was an opportunity missed, I felt, in a look that could've been very very cool looking, yet not over the top. I was thinking along the lines of Eradicator from Superman, what with the glowing orbs around him. I attempted to do a re-design of the costume, and suffice to say, I failed miserably. I will try again, after I think about it more, but designing a new Spider-Man costume is very hard, because you just can't stray too far from the classics. So what was going to be a re-design, turned into a drawing of the classic Black Costume, now making it's return in the marvel books. If you check out the Marvel Gallery, you will find the new pic. I was supposed to layout the Jam piece this week, but was out sick this week, and also had to finish my taxes, so I won't be able to get around to that til at least Monday, so I'll let you know when that comes along. Otherwise, it's back to my list. I must keep up with Steve at work, who is giving me some friendly competition, doing some AMAZING single images. I can't wait til his site is up, because you have to see his work, it is really GOOD! I'm just trying to keep pace with him now, but I was only able to do that Spidey piece today, while he did THREE INKED DRAWINGS! THREE! WoW! So, lots to do, so little time... Corey 2/26/07 - The finished Davy Jones piece is now up in the indy gallery! This was supposed to be done in conjunction with the Jack Sparrow piece, but because of time constraints and the fact that I was unhappy with the original sketch, had to be postponed til now. But I'm really happy with the finished drawing. You can see both drawings separately now, and I also put them both together to form the one image that they were supposed to be. That one drawing now, is underneath the images of both Sparrow and Jones! I hope you like them both, and the image as a whole! Let me know what you think in my forums, which I updated, and restarted, mainly because it seems that, because of my neglect, got hacked into and pounded by SPAM! I got rid of all the spam, and took my foums back, so you may wanna check that out. If you were resistered before, please re-register, because it was restarted. Sorry about that! I have a lot to do this week, including my taxes (FUN!), and then it's back to work on the Jam piece with my coworkers. I'm gonna lay it out on a double page spread, and then give it off to each penciller for their character! Can't wait to get started on that! Other then that, I MUST do a 10 year anniversary pic of DragonchilD, my creator owned "book"! I can't believe it's been 10 YEARS since I first created the character and univerrse of Christopher Rain! WOW! I'll let you know when I tackle that one... Til next time, I remain, Corey Breen 2/25/07 - You may have noticed that slowly I have been up[dating the look of the site. I told you it would be coming, but it is gonna take some time, as I can only do it little by little. Right now, I have updated the features on the BIO and INFO pages. For example, I have now included links to my comicspace.com site, and myspace.com site. I have included new links and files for my RESUME and my FREELANCE RESUME. Hopefully the site will be completly new wby the summer, as I hope to revamp all the homepages. Wish me luck! As far as any new work to show, I finally finished the New Fantastic Four piece, so you can finally see that. It's not one of my favorites, cause the Thing is just hard to draw, but I still love the new team. The image is in the Marvel Gallery, of coarse. I want to say thank you to all the people I met at the NYC Comic Con this weekend. It was a pleasure talking to everyone, and hopefully, I was able to make some long lasting connections and friendships! The shows are always so much fun, and it is so great to meet some of my icons, and be able to talk with them as a fellow professionsal. Big ups to Freddie H. Williams, Alex Sinclair, and everyone at the DC Comic's Booth! I will try to get everyone at work to get going on the Jam piece, so we can really try and make that happen this week. Other then that, I will be pretty busy with a lot of different things, so stay tuned as usual! And the Davy Jones drawing is ALMOST done, so that will be up in the next day or so... Happy Convention Season!, Corey 2/15/07 - Now we're movin'! I just posted the Outer Ourbit image I told you about. Love that book! It's in the Indy Gallery, along with the sketch for it underneath the final pencils. I also finished the colors for Fred's Deadpool piece finally, and that is in the Marvel Gallery where the other Deadpool image was, just updated now with the color. Hope you like them both! I will try and finish the new Fantastic Four pencils, and re-do the second part of the Pirates of the Carribean drawing I was working on. I had originally done a Davy Jones drawing to match the Jack Sparrow drawing I did. Kinda like they were facing off against each other. The two drawings are suppose to go side-by-side, and I will try to finally make that work like I wanted to. After that, it's back to the list. At work we are in the beginning stages of doing a huge JAM piece. This is the real deal, jam piece where we will all draw one character on one page, kinda like the Wildstorm and Top Cow artists do. We choose to do the New Avengers (the newest line-up), and there are going to be seven characters by seven different DC artists. I will keep you updated on how that is progressing. I picked Ronin out the hat, and even though I've drawn him before, I have something really cool in mind, and I hope it fits with everyone elses layout, so we can really make this something that really ROCKS. Well, thats it for another day here at CjB Pro, so I'm off to eat dinner, play some video games, and relax and watch Lost. Take it easy, Corey 2/13/07 - Steve not only finished the inks for that Hellboy piece I did, he COLORED it too! You gotta check it out. It's in the updated Indy Gallery! He really did an awesome, bang-up, kick-a$$ job on it, and I really want to thank him for putting his time and effort into doing this for me. He is a great inker, and artist in general, as you can see, and I'll get on him to finish his website, so everyone can see more of his work. We are all gonna try to do more "JAM" pieces at work, because, as you can see, I really work with some really, REALLY talented people. Thanks for the drawing, Steve! I am almost done, with Fred's Deadpool colors, so look for that in the next day or two. Along with that, I cranked out another fan piece, and I will hopefully have that up too. And yes, it's more Indy characters, from Dark Horse Comics. It's a book called Outer Orbit. SOOooo awesome. It's a Sci-Fi Comedy, and it's got an amazing, light-hearted story, and incredible art by Sean Murphy! I've been talking to him at work, too, and maybe I will send him the finished drawing when I'm done, and let you know what he thinks... after I post it here first though. Talk to you in a bit, Cor 2/12/07 - Wow, it felt like I just posted, but I guess it's been a couple of weeks. I have a really cool piece to share with you, a drawing I did for a coworker. In his convention Sketchbook (a sketchbook he brings to conventions to get a drawing from his favorite artists), his theme is Movie Monsters. He has some incredible art by major comic book artists, including Art Adams, and Mike McKone, all doing sketches of movie monsters such as Frankenstein, and Dracula. I decided to do Pan, from Pan's Labyrinth. If you haven't seen the movie, please do yourself a favor, and go see it, it is absolutly amazing. Definitly up there as a new favorite of mine. The character of Pan is just so cool, and you can check out my drawing for Dezi, in the Freelance Gallery, along with the pencil prelim I did for it. I also had time to draw a fan pic of another Indy book I really dig, and that is The Quest for Aberzen. More aniamorphic characters, this one a Polor Bear, named Janko. It would be so cool if you did some cross overs with some of these characters, right? How about a Blacksad/ Hellboy. Or a Aberzen/ Yojimbo. LOL You can find Janko in the Indy Gallery. There are 3 volumes of the series out now, all on Amazon.com. Cool book. I will soon have some old stuff I told you about posted, that of my two new DC Cards, and that portrait I did for a Save-the-Date invite, and Steve's Hellboy inks he did for me. I'm finishing up the colors for Fred's Deadpool, as well. I'll let you know when I have all those up. I think the next thing I will be doing (besides trying to find my next freelance gig), is just continuing down my list of things I want to draw. I'm really into these Indy books right now (kinda down on superheroes - it's a cyclical thing with me), and movie characters. So Hopefully I will have some more fan art, as it strikes me. Til then, cor PS- Congrats to my sister and her boyfiend, Jeff, on getting engaged. I am so happy for you two, and I can't wait to see you both and wish you all the best in person! All my love! 1/31/07 - Still working on a lot of different pieces, and the hits will just keep coming and coming, so i will keep this short, because I will be back to show you more stuff real soon! Happy February, Corey- OUT! 1/26/07 - Just posted that Hellboy "Dark knight Returns" piece I did. I also continued my Hellboy week with a profile drawing I did as well, and both of these are now in the Independant Gallery. I think I'm done with Hellboy for now. LOL. I started a new drawing today, that of the character from this AWESOME new book called Wastelands from Oni Comics. The art is so cool, and the story kicks a$$. It's like Mad Max, where it takes place after a nuclear holocaust, with survivors trying to make do in the barren "wastelands". Check it out! I will try to finish that, along with the the New Fantastic Four pic I promised, and post those as soon as they are done. EEEE, HAAA. Worky Work, Busy Bee!! Will talk to you then... Corey 1/25/07 - I told you I'd be back by the end of the week! I was able to scan a couple of those pics I told you about a couple days ago, and I finally have pics of... wait for it... MY DESK! If you click on the link under the main gallery listings, it will take you to the three photos. Even though it's moving very slowly, and I'm almost kinda sick of it, I finally am able to share some photos I took of the famous desk. They aren't the greatest quality photos, nor the best lighted, but I think it gives you a general idea of how it's progressing. The penciled characters are all but faded from actually USING the desk, so you can barely see the other JLA members, but it WILL look like the Batman and Green Lantern characters when it is all inked like they are. It's getting there. I promise that when I get another two characters done, I will take more pics, and you will begin to see the rest of the desk take shape. The other drawings I am posting today are of Deadpool and Hellboy. I just watched the Hellboy cartoon on TV finally, so I finally got to fulfill a ache to finally tackle the character that I love so much. I wanted an action shot, ala Dark Knight Returns, but this is what came out. it's kinda like the Punisher one I did, but oh, well. I still like it a lot, especially the shape and shadows I was able to create, as well as what my ideal Hellboy would look like. I was so happy with that one, and still into Hellboy, so I decided to try again on the DK Returns idea, and I have that sketched out, and am currently finishing the pencils on that. It's a total action shot with the DK Returns lightning bolt behind him, and it's exactly what I wanted! I'll post it when it's finished, hopefully by early next week, or as soon as this weekend. As for the Deadpool piece... that came about because I saw a coworker do a drawing requested by another coworker, of the Marvel Character Deadpool. I've been a fan of the character and also a BIG fan of my coworker's art, and thought his rendition of him was AWESOME! I loved it so much, I told him I wanted to ink it for him, and I did. I hope to color it too, because I love how it came out. The drawing was done by my coworker, Fredrick Haynes. He has been with DC about as long as I have, and before that he worked at marvel, and before that was an artist on Iron Man. He stuff really rocks, and I love how he nailed the gesture of Deadpool perfectly, that I had to contribute to the piece. I am currently helping Fred put his website together, so when that is up, I will definitly have a link put up so you can see more of his awesome work! All this collaborating around the office, made my other coworker steve take a liking to my Hellboy drawing (one of his favorites too), and I am going to let him ink it for me. He is an AWESOME inker, and I can't wait to see what he does with it, I know it's gonna be sooo cool! I'll get that to you soon, Steve! I tried my hand at digitally inking the Hellboy piece, and I mainly did that because I wanted you to see my digital inks compared to what Steve will do with his inks. Trust me, his innks will BLOW my inks AWAY! If you scrolll down, you will see my digital inks for the Hellboy piece, and I'll let you know aas soon as Steve does the inks for it. Also, going back to Fred's Deadpool pencils that I inked over, if you scroll down on that page, you can see them below. That's in the Marvel Gallery. The Hellboy drawings are in the Independant Gallery. I guess that's it for now. I will try to finish that Dark Knight Hellboy piece ASAP to post, and also finish that New Fantastic Four piece I'm working on. I'll let you know when Steve inks the former, and also if I have time to color that Deadpool piece, which I wanna do real bad cause Fred asked me to. I also totally wanna do a Pan's Labyrinth drawing as well, as I hopefully will be seeing the movie real soon, and you know how I get influenced by that kinda stuff. Oh, yea, and if that isn't nough, I think my new all-time favorite movie (surpassing Braveheart and Gladiator) could be 300! It's EVERYTHING I dream about. In a comic, a movie adaptation, the style, mood, the colors... OH MY GOD! This movie is gonna be AMAZING, I am going CRAZY!! I wanna do a drawing of some Spartans soon, no doubt! Well, I gotta go catch up on my reading (I just ordered more books to read, and haven't finished what I'm reading now), watch the NHL All-Star game from last night, catch up on Sportscenter, play some Madden '07, and NHL '07, start FFXII, watch Rome, 2 episodes, and Battlestar, 1 episode... AND DRAW! Seems like I'm a liiiiiiitle booked up right now. LOL Talk to you soon, Enjoy the Weekend, Cor 1/22/07 - Hi there. Just wanted to tell you that I had a few minor updates. I just added two new links to the Links page. Please welcome my girlfriend, Kristy's, website to the page. She just had her birthday as she graduated Magna Cum Laude at Hunter College for her Masters in Education. She is currently a sixth grade teacher at a catholic school, and hopes that she can now enjoy it without the added stress of going to night classes. Congrats, baby girl, I love you! The other link is that of Kristy's good friend, and our neighbor, Sherri. Sherri is a very active, fellow Syracuse Alumni, and I'm glad she let me add her banner to my Links page! Please visit her site, drop her a line and say hello, and tell her I said hello, even though she lives next door from me. Thats really it for today, BUT... I will have three, YES three new drawings (at least) by the end of this week!! I am almost done with a Hellboy drawing I am doing (that will be later inked by a fellow employee, Steve), a drawing of the NEW Fantastic Four (with the Black Panther and his wife, Storm), and also a drawing I inked for a coworker of Deadpool, but Fred Haynes (former Iron-Man artist)! Theres that, and possibly I will the drawing I finsihed for that freelance gig of the portrait, but that depends on the client and if and when he wants to unveil that. So may have to wait on that one. Oh, and HOPEFULLY an update on my desk (FINALLY!)! So tune in toward the end of the week, ok? ok! I'm out, Corey 1/12/07 - Happy New Year! I didn't get a chance to say it on the actual holiday, so it's a little belated, but late is better then never, right? So happy New year, I hope everyone's was great! Mine was very low key, but special non-the-less. I have been working very hard since holiday break. I had a nice vacation from everything, then it was back to the drawing board for me. I am currently still working on my desk at work. I finished inking Batman, and have now moved on the Green Lantern. I keep forgeting my camera, so as soon as I take some pictures of it, I promise I will have a link to them, so you can see the process. Since it's so big, it's been hard to figure out how I'm gonna do that, but I'll think of something. I am also currently working on another portrait freelance assignment. I am doing it in pencil, and it is going to be used as an invitation for a save-the-date. I should finish that up this weekend, and I will post it when I get permission, and hopefully I will be able to show you what the finished product will be, with all the text and layout. Other then that, my Giants are out of the Playoffs, and so even though I am still watching football, I have been able to do a lot of other things I didn't have time for since the games took over my life 224/7. I got a lot of things to read for xmas, so I am doing that. I am catching up on my commic book reading (check out Green Lantern Corps, from DC, it is AWESOME!) I have also been able to watch some TV again, so I can't WAIT til this weekend when 24 AND Rome comees back on. I also got to see a movie again. I used to go every weekend, but now I rarely have time. I got to see Eragon, and even though it wasn't the best movie (can you say Star Wars mixed with LOTR?), I liked it for what it was, and am now reading the book. The book is a MILLION times better then the movie, and I still think it rocks! Can't believe that the author was 17 when he wrote it! SOOOooooo jealous of that. But I just got to be patient, and my time will come. I have a feeling I will break out this year, and really start going at my dream 110 percent. Since I was so into this Eragon thing, I did a kick-a$$ drawing of Eragon and his Dragon, and that is located in the Independant Gallery. Check it out, it took me a while to do it, because of all the detail! I love how it came out. Going back to comics again, you know how I love new characters, and new costumes in particular, a new character has come back to the DCU. Terra from the teen titans is back in the pages of Supergirl, and I dig her new look by Amanda Conner. I did a drawing of her with Supergirl, and that is located in the DC II Gallery. Let's see, what else? My card for the Legion Series, as I said before, is out in the stores, and I finally got a copy. I am SOOOooo happy with it. Please pik it up if you can. I wish I can get a hundred of them and send them out to everyone, but even I only have my one copy, and I had to BUY IT MYSELF as well! I got lucky and got it in a pack! It's very cool though, because it is a FOIL card, and really stands out from the others. I guess thats why it is being labelled as "rare". I think I would rather have it "common" so everyone sees it, and goes, "THIS card again, ohhhh man!" LOL But since theere is a foil card per every pack, I don't think its as rare as that word suggests. Well, I think thats it for now. I am just about to relax tonight, and read some more (I got a lot to read after Eragon, so I got to get going. Timothy Zahn has a new Star Wars book coming out, I GOTTA get. And I heard good things about this book I wanna read called "The Road"). Then I gotta finish up this freelance assignment. I will post what I can, as I do it, so keep check my site! Again, I hope everyone has a GREAT 2007, and I hope everyone stays happy and healthy! Peace, Corey 12/20/06 - NO WAY! It can't be another month that just went by! And here I promised that wouldn't happen again, but it did. Although I did tell everyone that I was busy, and had two more cards to do. Since I am done with those cards, and done with my christmas shopping, I am now able to update the site. I can't show you the two cards that I did for the upcoming World's Finest VS. series, because they are not public yet (you'll just have to check out the un-used sketch that I posted last month to hold you over), I do have some goodies to show you. You see, oncce I get drawing, and working, I really, REALLY can't stop. For example, I was working the other day, and and kept putting off taking a break and doing things like going to the bathroom. I just kept working and drawing, and by the time I finally took a break, hours had gone by! It just so happens, that once I start drawing, ideas fill my head and I HAVE to get them on paper. I begin to want to draw so many different things as well, that I just add it to my list, hoping I will get to it. And when I'm in this mode, I just draw, and move on to the next piece I wanna do. I get on quite a roll. SO, as you'll see, I have done the two cards, and three new drawings. As far as what goodies I have, I must tell you, that the one thing that had to take a back seat, was my desk at work. From being so busy doing my REAL job, I am not able to really take a break anymore to innk my desk. I took some photos of the pencilled desk, but wont post it until I can clean it up and make it look good for web viewing. I hope that by that time, I can have at least a couple of shots that show the progress, instead of just the pencils I have now. I will do my best to keep working on it, but that is the one thing that everyone will probably have to wait on. Besides the desk, this past month was spent on the two cards. I mostly worked on the weekends, then had to work at night after work, after the Grodd card became a little more complex then I would've hoped. I pencilled, inked and colored Eradicator pratically all at oncce, so I finished that card pretty quickly. I had to squeeze in Christmas shopping, and other errands in with working on the Grodd card, so it took a little longer to complete. I was able to finish up a couple of days before the deadline, and my art director was happy with them, so I had no corrections. I think they look great and can't wait to show them to you. I can't wait til they become actual cards as well, because, (and this is the first goodie) my first card has HIT THE STORES. Yes, just in time for Christmas, go pick up your Booster sets for Legion of Super-Heroes VS> Series 1! I hope you get my card, because I hear it's "ultra rare"! LOL I actually hope not, because I want as many people as they can to get it and see it! But "ultra rare" sounds cool. I think you'll agree that the card looks pretty frakkin' cool. I am really REALLY happy with it. I posted the final card that Upper Deck produced, underneath the final Sensor image in my Freelance gallery. While you are in that gallery, check out the second goodie! I did a commisioned piece for a co-worker, named Nate (what's up Nate?), who wanted a Thor drawing. I made him in his new costume, which I love, and can't wait for his new book to come out. I always have high hopes for Thor everytime a new series comes out, but they usually always dissapoint. Lets hope this one doesn't. Copiel (the artist) RULES. Great design on Thor. Speaking of co-workers, that's where the third goodie comes in. I have a co-worker who used to work at Marvel, and he is still pretty proud of that, even though he works for "us" now. Anyway, he wore this sweater to work that he thought was "AWESOME". Little did he know, that we all would not think it was "awesome". In fact, we laughed pretty hard. He wore what could only be called, a Punisher Sweater! LOL Yeah, I know. This sweater was made by Echo Wear, and probably very expensive. The worker was proud of this sweater, and you just had to see it. It was all black with the punisher SKULL covering the ENTIRE front of the sweater. A skull covered the front of the sweater. 'Nuff said. Anyway, I couldn't let this go, so I felt that I had to do something. I decided to put my skills to use and draw the comic book character HIMSELF in this sweater. So thats what I did. I drew the Punisher wearing this sweater. I changed it just a bit to make it my own, but the real sweater is pretty cose to what you see. I posted the drawing up in the Marvel Characters gallery, so go check it out now. I'll wait... So yeah, that's the story behind that drawing, and you know what...? I think it looks GREAT! I really liked how it turned out, and is now one of my FAVORITE pieces. I really want the Punisher to be in this sweater from now on. Especially in the snow and cold. He is only human. I hope you agree that it loooks cool as hell. So those are all the goodies for you in this update. I wrote down a lot more ideas I got in my head right now that I wanna do, and I hope to not stop drawing, and be able to post some as I do them starting the new year off right, with constant updates all the time. I am working on the new TERRA in DC Comics. I like her new costume designed by Amanda Conner (I told you I'm a sucker for new costumes, revamped characters, etc.). I should have that done, maybe tomarrow. We'll see. But now that I got those cards done, I have defintily been having fun and riding this wave of non-stop action and adventure. I may even have some freelance jobs come the new year, in those story-boards I told you about last update, and possibly even some more portraits, this time of a friend and his girlfriend. So I will be in touch a lot more in the new year. I hope everyone is having a GREAT holiday season, and I hope that evryone HAS a great holiday this week and next! Then have a Happy, Healthy New Years, and I will see you all in JANUARY 2007! This is gonna be my year, I can feel it! The Giants may be done, but I am just beginning!! Just once last thing, and that's a shout out to my brother, Rob, his wife Whitney, and there soon to be born little girl (I will be an uncle in April!!!). I wish them all the best in their new home in chicago, I will miss you guys a lot here in old NYC. Good luk, and I will see you both soon! Merry Christmas! later everyone, be safe! NOT! Corey Breen 11/13/06 - I'm REALLY sorry. WOW. I haven't posted ANYTHHING since September 14th, and for that I am really sorry! I'm gonna try not to have that happen EVER again. It's not like I haven't been drawing anything either. I blame video games and football! HAH No, really. Between watching everything that has to do with the NFL, participating in my first year of Fantasy Football, and playing Madden '07 on my PS2, I have football coming out of my ears! I love it, but I have to admit, it is taking up all of my time. Speaking of video games, I also have NHL '07 that I play ever year, and I just got Final Fantasy XII, which I haven't even opened yet. That means I should be booked til about, oh, 2009. LOL Seriously, I can't wait to play FFXII, BUT, it can't be until I finish some drawings and the two new freelance projects I got from DC Comics. I just recently got the go ahead to do two original cards for the next DC/ VS. series, which will be call Worlds Finest (Superman/ Batman). I know my other card hasn't even hit the shelves yet (it got pushed back til late November- I'll let you know when it's out, believe me), but I am working on these two cards for this new set. I will be doing one of Superman's villian/ hero, The Eradicator, and also, one of the scariest villians in the DCU, Groilla Grodd. The Eradticator is well on it's way to being done, but the Grodd card poses a much bigger challenge for me. Trying to fit everything I have to fit in there will be tough, but I look forward to doing my best on it. I think when it's finally done and colored, it will look really cool, I promise. I did two versions of Eradicator for approval, and one became the favorite of my editor. Therefore, I have a special treat, and if you visit my Freelance gallery, you can see the sketch for the one idea she did not choose. I still really like it, but the other idea is really gonna kick! As far as drawing for fun, I came across material for a character called the Afro Samurai. It is from a Japanese animation featuring the voice of Samuel L. Jackson. Once I saw him, I had to draw the character. Not one of my best pieces, but still, it was for fun, and I really can't wait to see this movie. The only other thing I got going as far as all of the above, is a NEW DESK. I started to draw the entire NEW JLA on my desk at the office, and it's coming out pretty cool. It's tough, because it's really big, and since I'm swamped at work all day, I don't get many opportunities to work on it. I hope to have it all inked by early next year. Wait til you see Batman, he came out really sick, definitly my best Batman to date. He's arguablly my favorite character of all time, yet he, along with superman, are the hardest to draw. I'm gonna try to take digital pics of my desk throughout the entire process, so I can post them and show you. I think it will be cool for you to see the entire progression of the desk, and hopefully, take you through to the end product. It's gonna be tough though, because, already the pencil is smudging, and I have to hurry with the inks. I don't want to lose the pencils before the illustration board I'm working on gets too dirty to finish. It's gonna be worth it when it's done, because I wanna have it frammed or something down the road, so I'm gonna do my best to preserve it and get this thing done. I think thats about it, because other then the DC work, my other freelance has been pretty dry. I need to get back to the self-promotion and networking, so I can get a few gigs here and there. So if you know anyone looking for any type of work, please forward them my info. Well, I should go, but I would like to again apologize for not posting anything in like two months, and I promise that wont happen again. I will have a lot done by December, so I will be able to show you as much as I can get done by then. I'm off to watch Monday Night Football, and then hopefully play some video games, until I chain myself to the desk and start drawing that Grodd card! I hope you enjoy the two drawings I posted today, and I will talk to everyone soon, Lata, Corey 9/14/06 - I know, I know, its been over a month since I posted anything. Really sorry about that. Life has been getting in the way of doing anything lately. Haven't had any new freelance projects, and haven't really had the chance to draw at all either. I'm in the process of looking for more gigs, and hopefully I will soon. I may be trying to do some pro-bono pieces for promotion that look like they could really get more people to see my work, and hopefully hire me to do a portrait or pin-up. We'll have to wait and see though. I do have two new drawings up in the Independant Gallery. One is the Jack Sparrow fan-art (which I promised a long time ago), and the other is a character I've always loved and wanted to draw, Usagi Yojimbo! If you haven't yet, check out the TMNT trailer online now. That is how the turtles should look and be portrayed in the movies. Can't wait to see it, for if its anything like their orginal series, then its gonna KICK some serious tail. I guess thats it for now, I'm feeling under the weather this week, so I'm trying to take it easy, but I hope to have some news for everyone soon, and even if I don't I'll try to drop in and say hello. My birthday was the 3rd, so wish me well! Bye for now, Corey 8/9/06 - I was hard at "work", working on those Pirates and Narnia drawings I have been talking about for ages, when I realized I didn't really like how they were coming out. I put aside the Pirates drawing for a bit, and scrapped the Narnia piece altogether. I started to catch up on my Marvel Comics reading, and I just finished reading the wedding of the Black Panther to Storm of the X-Men. I thought it was ok, and for some reason, I had to draw the Black Panther! It's on my list of things to draw, so I was very excited (I gotta show everyone this list soon). Well I did it, and I think it came out pretty sweet. I made him a little Batman-ish, but isn't that really what he is for Marvel, anyway? If I did the book, I would so make him really bada$$ and play up the whole Wakanda as a soverign nation theme with all this Final Fantasy-type technology! That would be cool. SO that is now posted up in the Marvel gallery. This posting promted me to update all the galleries, and also to post 2 recent freelance gigs I did. One was logo designs for a private client for BWA Ad Design again, that the client decided not to use. The other is the inked version of the drawing of Cody I did for my best friends' wedding. This is they're one year anniversary gift for them. I hope they like it. I also decided to reluctantly join myspace. I hope it will lead to some networking and possibly some freelance gigs such as more portraits and whatnot. We'll see. It seemed like just another friendster type site, but EVERYONE has one now, so it made sense to join the frat, so to speak. My girlfriend AND cat have joined as well. On my BIO page, there is a link to my "myspace", so check it out, leave me a message... Do something, let me know you're out there, for crying out loud. I'm tired of talking to myself. hahahahah Just kidding. I hope you enjoy the updates for now, I'm off to watch TV, and try to FINALLY finish the Pirates piece. I really mean it, next time I post, it should be up. Corey "Damn you, Jack Sparrow..." 8/3/06 - I got a call from BWA Ad Design Firm just the other day, and they had me do another sketch for a private client of theirs. I enjoy working with this small Ad Agency very much. This one was for a new product to make children want to take their medicine. I drew a little girl who didn't like her medicine, which is what they asked for, but as it turned out, they were looking for something a lot less simplistic, and decided not to go with my drawing. I got a kill fee for the piece, as they used a stock photo they found, but I am still pretty happy with how it came out. This happens a lot in the freelance world, as you can't always hit a home run, and it's always great to get more work, even if it's not fully taken to term. The image is in the freelance gallery! I also started the long awaited Narnia and Pirates of the Caribbean drawings I've been wanting to do. I gotta finish them up when I have some free time this week, and as soon as I do, I will post them! Til then, I remain, Corey Breen 7/28/06 - "Christmas? In the middle of July?" Well, not really. Just another update. I have posted the portrait of that dog I did for that freelance gig, and that is up now to look at in the Freelance Gallery. Turned out to be a lot of fun to do, especially the buildings (I love drawing buildings for some reason), even though I didn't want to do a portrait but more of a caricature/ cartoon. So, theres that, and also, I did yet another Marvel Fan-Art drawing. I still have that list of like 20 things I want to draw, and another Marvel character was not one of them, until I came across this really cool website. It's at www.projectrooftop.com. On this site, artists of all kinds (fans and pros) re-design your everyday super-heroes' costumes. There is nothing I love better then a new costume, and when I saw the re-design on Ms. Marvel by professional comic artist, Travel Foreman, I had to draw it. He made her new costume very simple, yet elegant and also very sexy, all at the same time. Thats NOT easy, and I give him mad props. As you can see on the website, he was really the only one to venture far out from what already has been done with the characters. I like to think my Black Canary drawing falls under that catagory, which is a different take on a character's costume that has never been done before. I hope Marvel sees this and takes note, to get this guy on the book IMMEDIATLY! So check out my version of the re-designed Ms. Marvel, and I will try to do something for projectrooftop in the near future. I love re-designing costumes too, so this looks like a good website to try and join and post something up. I guess thats it for now. I don't whats next for me just yet, I may be getting some more freelance work from DC licensing, so wish me luck with that. Other then that, I hope to draw some things off my list, and keep posting to everyone semi-regularly! Have a great weekend, and stay cool! CjB P.S.- The convention in San-Diego was this past week, and I had a co-worker pick up the new J. Scott Cambell sketchbook. It's awesome, but he really needs to focus again, like he promised, and get Wildsiderz done. I wanted to tell you that, and also wanted to thank Mark Buckingham (artist on Fables) for being so nice and so motivational, as he shared office space with our Bullpen all week. it was a pleasure to meet you, and to see you draw, and wanted to say, keep up the AMAZING work on the best comic in comic-land, FABLES. 7/19/06 - I liked how I showed the process I went through to do the color version of that Wolverine piece I drew, so I decided to do the same for the other Marvel Heroes in the gallery. So I posted the digital inks I did for Iron-Spidey, Moon Knight, and Ronin underneath the pencils of each link. Take a look and compare, and then check out the final color image again, to see how it all came together. I'll try to do more of that in the future, just because although I know people love to see things in color, I will always have a soft spot for the original pencils (I think inks stiffen my drawings up) so I like to show those. Other then that, I finally completed the Captain America from the Truth series I talked about so much, so check it out. The building and gargoyle didn't really come out all that great or how I pictured it, but I think Cap came out really cool, and I'm happy with the piece. Now if only he would come back to the MU and kick Captain America's Steve Rogers' anti-registration a$$! Well, off to read Civil War #3, which is out today, to see it that happens. I will pray, as well as pray for Iron Man, aka Tony Stark to get killed! I'll be back soon with the portrait of the dog I talked about. Til then, Corey 7/17/06 - Just finished that Moon Knight piece I was talking about. He's a little thin, and that's because he was originally supposed to be a drawing of Dr. Midnight (hence the owl), but it wasn't working costume wise, so I changed it to another drawing of Moon Knight, just because I love the character, and his new book is kicking A$$! I also posted in the Marvel Gallery, designs for the African American Captain America that I did for the final drawing I am still working on (which will be posted next, as soon as I finish it in the next couple of days). The only other thing I did was post the pencils, and the digital inks for the Wolverine piece, just to show you the process I used to create the final image you see in color. It was definitly an experimental piece, and not the way I usually work, so let me know what you think. That's it for now. Almost finished with that BIG 20" x 30" portrait I got hired to do, and I will be posting that soon, so, as always, keep checking in with the site! It feels really good to be back posting on the site and updating it daily, despite all the hard work! I promise to keep at it! Peace, Corey 7/14/06 - Just a quick link I wanted to share that has quickly become my favorite site on the internet. The site is called 'Comic Art Community', and it's a site that showcases all comic book artists, and also fan artists, and their library of material is just insane. My work is featured there now as well, under 'B' for Breen! check it out, you will see that it is the one place shop for all your favorite artists' images. Check out Ed Benes for example... the link is: http://comicartcommunity.com/gallery/index.php "Bye for now"..., Corey 7/13/06 - Wow! I know what your thinking, it's been awhile since you've heard from me, but trust me, it was not because I was being lazy. I have been working very, very hard and I am finally ready to unvail a lot of the material I've been working on now. The first thing I had to do was update the website in general. The galleries were first. I needed to fix how they were formatted. I now have ten different galleries to choose from, making it very easy to distinguish what is what and where. Since I have so many DC characters that I've drawn, for example, I had to split it up into two different sections. So I hope you find it a lot easier to navigate to see my images, and it's not as overwhelming as before. I think you'll agree, it was a much needed update. Second, I wanted you to know why it took so long to get around to posting new work. After I moved in my new apartment, and ran all the errands that comes along with that, I had to finish three freelance assignments. One was in fact the DC/ Upper-Deck Legion of Super-Heroes card I've told you about all those months ago. The Sensor card that I did is now in the freelance gallery for you to see, I hope you like it, it was so much fun to do, and I want to thank DC for giving me the chance to showcase my work for that VS. series. I hope to do more of those in the future. Another freelance gig I had was a portrait of a friend of a friend's cat. I did a pencil version and an ink version for her, and I personally like the pencil one best, but I know she was really happy with the results of the inks. I am also doing another portrait of a private client's dog, which is a very, very big drawing. It's crazy because this happens to me a lot, when I get freelance work, it comes in shifts, and when it does, I get type-casted for a bit, and this time it happens to be pet portraits. LOL. Last time it was winter sports, now its people's pets. But I'm totally not compaining, I love the work! Anyway, that piece is all pencilled, but I still have to ink it, so that is why I have yet to post that image. It will be up soon. Besides those three new uploads to the site, I had some free time recently to have a little fun and I colored three previous drawings I really liked. The first is another color image of my favorite character that I created, of which I am still in the process of writting a Manga for. I have about four pages of it all layed out as well, that's what some of those design pages are that are in the Creator Owned Material gallery. The next two are in the Marvel Comics gallery. You will see full colored versions of the Moon Knight and Iron-Spider-Man drawings. I also did a straight up ink and marker drawing of Wolverine that's new there too. I'm really happy Marvel has been putting out such quality stuff again, with Civil War and all. As a kid growing up, the summer's would not be summer without an awesome event from Marvel. I can't wait for it to progress, and even after that, it's amazing because now that got all of my favorite artists working there. I can't believe they have the following artists, which is literally my top ten: Joe mad, Chris Bachalo, J. Scott Campbell, Joe Quesada, Humberto Ramos, Paco Medina, Steve McNiven, David Finch, Ed McGuiness, and Michael Turner. It's gonna be sooooo cool to get all their work soon. I'm in fanboy heaven just thinking about it. Back to me though, I wanted to let you know that, as I finish up that dog portrait, I am trying to finish up those drawings I promised I would post about two months ago. Sorry about that, but I had to put them on hold, as I got busy. The following are almost done, and will be up as soon as I finish them, promise: two drawings of the African American Cap, and a new Moon Knight drawing. In the meantime, I have a couple new pieces in the Independant Character Fan Art gallery that you must check out. I did a drawing of one of my all-time favorite characters, the Savage Dragon. I just love his design, so simple yet so perfect (much like Hellboy). I also did a drawing of another Image comic called Invinible, which I so highly recommend it's not even funny. Robert Kirkman writes comics the way they used to be. Full of adventure, twists, action, and lots of great dialogue and drama. Yet it still is very contemporary. Check it out, it's a damn good book. Finally, the only other new piece I posted, is an old piece that I did for a friend about 5 years ago. It's located in the Freelance gallery as well. Just wanted to show more caricature drawings, because I love doing those and want to do more of those (please commission me to do one!) Oh, I almost forgot... Since it's blockbuster movie time, I thought I'd share a story from work with all of you, and it's something you can check out for yourself! One day at work I was asked to contribute to the openning sequence to the DC Comics Logo in front of the movie, SUPERMAN RETURNS! I know, cool, right? Well, they had me do eight different storyboard images, that would be used much like the ones Jim Lee did for Batman Begins, when the DC Spin Logo comes on screen. I posted these drawings that you see now on the site, in the Freelance gallery. At DC they were shown to Bryan Singer himself. i was told he liked them a lot, but DC, it seemed, wanted to go in another direction, which was more 3-D'ish. But as it turns out, Singer liked my ideas after all, and wanted the similar look to the one used in Batman Begins. It turns out, they went with my ideas, and had the final images drawn by Jim Lee. I was very proud and honored to see my ideas on the big screen, and to have them be drawn by Jim lee... even though I was uncredited for the work. AS for the rest of the movie... well, I did enjoy Superman Returns very much, but it was just ok, not great. I had many issues with it, and Superman has never been my favorite, but I did like a lot about it too, and just seeing Superman on screen again was really, REALLY cool. I think the best movie so far this year, and maybe even EVER, was Pirates of the Caribbean II! I LOVED the first one, and this one just continued the thrill ride. THIS is what action movies should be, and I wish, i REALLY wish I could work for a movie like that and design those characters, those costumes. Everything down to the littlest props and set pieces were all perfect. Yeah, the story was flawed, but so what, these two Pirates movies, so far are everything movies should be, especially in the age of CGI... pure, all out FUN and entertainment! And being in the comic's field, you know how much I love serialized storytelling. I can't wait for Pirates three!!!! We've actually been very lucky in our lifetimes to see such films as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and now these movies. An instant classic in my eyes. If I can squeeze it in, I totally plan on drawing Capt. Jack Sparrow and crew, and hopefully Davy Jones (he was AWESOME!) and i'll post that up. And I know I still have to draw a Narnia piece as promised. For now, just be sure to check out all the new images I posted in the newly set up galleries. Let me know how things look, please, and let me know what works and doesn't work! So... looks like I have a TON of work to do, so I need to get back to it! I for one don't know how I'm accomplishing all this, especially since I forgot to mention I pulled a tendon in my ankle and have been going to physical therapy twice a week for the last two months! WAHH! LOL. Well, I hope you enjoy the HUGE update, sorry it took so long, but I know the site is now a lot easier to manage and was well over due for a major upgrade. In that aspect, there is still a LOT to do, and I look forward to doing it. One thing I want to do is have a "favorites" page, which would be dedicated to all my favorite things, such as comics, TV, movies, funny stories around the web, new favorite images from my favorite artists, real photos, and more inside info on myself, and my life. That wont be ready for a long while, but I'll keep you posted. I think I will have to update the homepage very soon, before I get to this new page. I just want the perfect new image, and all new buttons, and such. I want a new look for a lot of things on the site, so keep checking back in, see if I get things moving on all fronts. I thank you all for checking out the site, as always! I'll talk to you soon (very soon!), Corey "I love these moments... I love to wave at them as they pass by." 5/17/06 - Well, it's the middle of the month, and I'm actually ahead of schedule! I finished my DC/ Upper Deck Card a week early and have completed two other freelance projects, all while still working hard at the office. The DC Card came out very cool, and I can't wait to get the go ahead to show everyone, and then post it on the site! The other freelance gigs were quarking and preflighting a special project for a client, and doing preliminary logo designs for another client. I hope that the client likes them, and we can go to some final designs, that will be used on the actual product! Very excited about that. If you can believe all that, I have also done two more fan-art drawings, one of which is now posted in the gallery. It's of the NEW Wonder Woman, which is premiring at DC next month. This book is really gonna rock, with art by the amazing sexy-chick-drawing-madman Terry Dodson, and written by the guy who writes for the OC. I can't reveal who exactly this Wonder Woman is, or if it's not even Diana, but with a new movie in the works, this book is sure to surprise. The second drawing will be of the African American Captain America, who I've been meaning to draw, and who I hope will come back soon, especially in the epic Marvel crossover, Civil War, which by the way is the most I've been excited by any comic book since god knows how long. This series is kicking major a$$. I don't know whose side to take on the war, although I usually always side with Spider-Man. It's just such a great premise and I am so excited for it to unfold. I'm waiting to see what moon knight does though. His new book is absolutly breathtaking so far, and it's only two issues in. Well, enough blabbering, I should go finish this Cap piece. As a final note, I will be attending the Licensing Convention at the Javits Center this weekend to promote myself and look for some freelance work. At the very least, hopefully I will be able to get some people to check out the site. Below is a link to the convention, and I hope to meet many people there. Bye, for now! http://www.surtex.com/content/howtoattend.htm Corey 5/3/06 - Still working on the Sensor Legion Card for DC. It's taking so long because there is just so much to do with the new apartment and all. It will be done soon, and so will the apartment. The new place is coming along nicely, and Kristy and I are very happy here so far. In the meantime, I drew a mean-a$$ Warlord pin-up just for the site to hold everyone over. If you haven't already, please check the book out, it's freakin' awesome and I really don't want it to be cancelled. This industry needs to keep these fantasy series alive. Skye Runner looks sweet too, from Wildstorm! Hope you like the pic, and I will be be back soon, peace, Corey P.S. - Please visit your local comic store on Saturday and support Free Comic Book Day! Tell everyone you can, comics are COOL! 4/8/06 - Hi! I can't believe it's been a month since my last update. Sorry about that, the month of March Flew by. I went to Ireland with my brother (thanks for everything Jon, I'll NEVER forget it!), and I got an apartment with my girlfriend, we move in May 1st (can't wait!). Also this month, I finally got a DC Card to do, and that card will be Sensor in the Legion of Super heroes Upper Deck Card Set. It's due the end of the month, I will be dong the pencils, I'll let you know who is doing the inks and colors when I can. So far, it looks really cool, and I can't wait for everyone to see it! But the only updates so far, is my new address change on my website, and resumes. I'll have a lot more updates after I move in the new place, and am even starting to think about re-designing the entire site! Take it easy til then, Corey 3/5/06 - WOW! Another update! Yea, totally... While I'm hard at work on those RPG colors, I managed to crank out a drawing of the New Captain Boomerang! I liked this character since his intro in Indentity Crisis, but, check out Outsiders, he's now a good guy (for how long we don't know). DC's One Year later has me very excited, because everything was thrown on it's ear, and this is one character I'm glad to see is making his debut. I was so excited I had to draw him right away. Also as a treat, I did a beautiful Letraset Marker coloring of the New Blue Beetle drawing, and I think it came out sweet. I love those markers, and I knew it would fit that character, seeing how he is Blue Beetle after all. Well, my taxes are done, and it's back to the computer to keep coloring, I really do have to make these pieces look nice, if I wanna get into the RPG arena! Hope you enjoy the surprise update, and i'll be back soon. Promise... Corey 3/1/06 - Nothing really new to report, except that the NY Comic Con was this past weekend, and it was a blast. I got to get an original drawing and sketch from one of my favorite artists, Steve McNiven. That was awesome. I also had a couple of portfolio reviews that went well, so right now I am working on coloring a couple of RPG pieces to re-submit. That will push aside a couple of other things I meant to do, so just please bear with me, and I will do my best to get to them so everyone can enjoy some new drawings. Later, Corey 2/15/06 - The Battlestar Galactica pic is now up in the RPG Gallery! Hope you like it, and I hope to do another one very soon. Heard there's a comic coming out soon based on the series. Can't wait, but wish I could draw it. That or someone like Oliver Vatine who drew Star Wars: Heir to the Empire Adaptation. He is freakin' AWESOME! Look him up if you can, THAT'S the way to do an adaptation! See you soon, Cor 2/13/06 - Hey everyone! I've been really busy lately, really just trying to stay fresh and keep the pencil to the paper. I will hopefully be doing a card for a DC Legion series in the near future, so I'm very excited about that. I'll keep everyone posted on that front. Freelance work has been kinda dry for me since Christmas, so to stay fresh, I've been working on just random characters and images that I've been meaning to draw, as I mentioned in the last post. Since then I have a list of about 20 drawings I wanna do, just for fun, and a lot of those are now posted in the Galleries. They are drawings of Moon Knight, and Ronin from Marvel, Red Sonja from Dynamite, and the new Blue Beetle from DC. i hope you check them out, I'm really happy with the way they all came out. Other then that, right now I am drawing that Battlestar Galactica piece I promised, then it's back to the drawing board to crank out some animated Teen Titans, Batman Strikes, and JLU characters to try and get some Licensing work. I have a piece or two to ink and color, which I wanna get done by the convention on the 24th hear in NYC, but we'll see. So stay tuned, I've been working really hard, and trying to do something with all this and "break in" so to speak, so wish me luck, and have a GREAT whatever! Corey Breen 1/19/06 - Of course I know I said i would be posting more movie adaptation drawings, but my short attention span got the best of me, and I jumped gears again. I am a stickler for new costumes in comic books (character design being my favorite thing in the field), and once I saw Marvel Comics' new Spider-Man costume, I HAD to take a stab at it. I was very mixed about it, because Spider-Man is so near and dear to my heart, and his original costume is so classic, and shouldn't be messed with, but once i started drawing it, I had a TON of fun! Please check out the image in the Comic Book Character Fan Art gallery. I have four more drawings I am currently working on, mostly all comic characters, and I have about 16 other things I want to draw, so keep an eye out as always for my newest stuff! Before I go, please check out my good friend, Designer Jason Kramer's new website, of which there is a link to in my Links page. Thanks, Corey P.S.- HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL!! 1/6/06 - Just added a drawing I did today of King Kong, and it's located in the RPG gallery! Amazing movie, and it was a blast to draw! This will be the first of a couple of movie drawings I've been dying to do, so keep an eye out for more of these. Cor 1/3/06 - Hi! It's been awhile, right? I know, I know, I promised way more updates then this, but you know how life gets in the way and all. Thanksgiving with the family, then holiday shopping, and errands, it gets crazy for me this time of year. But finally I have time to sit down and add a couple of things to the site and say hello, and wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Going back a little bit, here's the halloween pic of me and Kristy as Jedi knights I promised... click on the link below the news for that. Secondly, I have added the pencils for Season of the Witch that i did for fun to promote my friends new comic, and wish him well, and that is in the gallery. Hope you like it. I have a lot of freelance work I will put up as well, with more extreme sports images done for BWA Ad Design. Lastly, I have a lot on my plate and am excited by so many things. I wanna draw such things as Narnia, Kong, Serenity, Battlestar Galatica (new season starts friday!), and among other things, work on some of my creator owned projects, including a new one I just came up with, with the help of my girlfriend. I think that's it for now, so enjoy the update, and lets make this a year to remember! Thanks, and best wishes, Corey Breen 10/31/05 - Hi! Happy Halloween! Kristy and I dressed as Anakin and a Jedi Knight (thanks for being a nerd with me sweetie!) and it was a lot of fun! I will post a picture of us dressed up when i get one from my friends. Other then that, I have been very busy. I posted another freelance drawing I did for a skiing catalog, up in the Illustration gallery, and am still working with that ad agency on a big project. Fun stuff! I also did a drawing for a friend, just for fun, who writes for Image Comics that i will post soon, so keep an eye out for that! I love his new book, called Season of the Witch, so check it out. There's a link to his website on the updated Links page. My resume has also been updated yet again for all interested. I am now working on the christmas card for DC for the 2nd year in a row, and that is always fun, because my art gets to be seen with the likes of a Jim Lee. Don't know if he is doing this years as well, but I will keep you updated. Please check out last years card for a preview! I hope everyone is doing well, and that you keep checking into cjbpro.com for more updates. jedi master, Corey 10/13/05 - Hey there, fans! HAHAHAHA. I have been very, very busy, working on both an advertising freelance gig (more snowboarding and skateboarding clothing images) and more pin-ups. You can find new pin-ups of DC characters, The Question, and Klarion the Witch Boy in the Comic Book Character Fan Art gallery. Please check out both their new series that recently wrapped up (they are AWESOME, way to go DC)! I also added another piece that i did in college in the Illustrations gallery, that of a self-portrait done in watercolor. Hope you enjoy those and I'll have some big news soon, I hope, so keep in touch... good times, Corey p.s.- My resume gets updated almost weekly, so please check for updates regularly. Thank you. 9/27/05 - Well, it's been a little while, and I've been working very hard finishing up a freelance gig for a friend of a friend, and also been just drawing on my own to keep fresh. I learned a couple of new things to do on the website (thanks Rob!) including having a Forum! Just click on the "FORUMS" link and it will take you there, and you can post about anything and everything! Of course you have to register and whatnot, but it only takes a second, and BLAM, you can post to the boards, and let me know what you think. That's all for now, it's back to work (mostly on some new RPG samples) and try to get some more freelance gigs. til next time, Corey 9/07/05 - Not too much to report recently, just hard at work. My 27th birthday has come and gone, and I had a wonderful time, yet busy as busy can be. My Bio is finally up! I also just posted my two latest freelance gigs up in the Galleries in my Illustrations section. Now that those are done, I will be getting back to drawing some more samples for RPG companies to hopefully get some work in that arena! I'll post those up as soon as a have a bunch done, so check back soon! P.S.- Be sure to check out joemadfan.com for Nathan's new site geared toward my biggest idol and INCREDIBLE artist, Joe Madureira! You can find my site in his links for artists, once he has the site completly finished. Corey 8/29/05 - Took a little while but I finally got around to coloring that creator owned piece I posted last week. I'm liking how I'm getting better at rendering, but I still need to get that UMPH that all the other colorists seem to achieve. I know I'll get there. Well, now it's back to other work besides my own, and I will be sure to post any other new stuff as I do it, as always. L8R, Corey 8/22/05 - So much to do, so little time. On my drawing tables throughout the years, I've been known to draw on my desks. They usually turn out into these really cool huge conglomerations of characters, and I'm just recently trying to transfer them to be able to put them up on the site. I just added the first, a creator owned character, and you can find it in the Creator Owned Material gallery. I will try to color it this week, for I want it to be the new image on the galleries homepage. I have a ton of other work to do, but hopefully i can squeeze that in as well, so keep an eye out. I also added an old image in the Illustration gallery of a dinosaur egg. later, Corey 8/19/05 - Finally! The website is FINISHED. I can't believe it has finally come together, and I have to say, I'm very proud of it. It was tough figuring out a whole new program from skratch, but I feel i did pretty good. I did get a lot of help, and I want to personally thank Robert Clark for all his help, and I wanna thank my girlfriend, and all my friends for their input. Keep those ideas coming... Well, it's back to the drawing board to work on more images, and gigs, but as soon as I have new material, you can betcha I will post it up in the galleries. Thanks again for visiting the site, and I hope to hear from you soon! peace! Corey 8/17/05 - Welllllll, it's ALMOST there! The site is ALMOST all finished. Obviously, right now, there is major problems with the galleries. It's very late right now, and I could stay up all night to fix it, but just bear with me through the weekend, and everything should be PERFECT on monday. PROMISE! Thanks for your patience! Til then... Corey 8/16/05 - Well, I just about updated EVERYTHING on the site, so please feel free to poke around and see what's what. I hope this newest form of the site is slicker, easier on the eye and a lot whole lot better to navigate. The last thing I need to do is make up the final six galleries, and the site should be finished. Let me know what you think! Corey 8/15/05 - Just got back from my best friends' wedding, and I just want to wish them the best! I have posted a drawing of their dog, in gallery 1 which I gave them as a gift. I also posted a couple of other older images, and new color piece of myself which will soon be a part of a re-designed bio-page. Check back to see when it's done! corey 8/10/05 - Just uploaded an image of Space Ghost into Gallery 2, as well as an older piece I did. It was a Nightwing sample cover working off the script for issue #1/2. Also, in Gallery 1, I updated the XMAS card i did for work. Check it out. Corey 8/09/05 - Welcome! Because I am still in the process of building this website and perfecting it, I hope everyone will continue to visit as much as they can to see all the updates that are done. Please feel free to email me at any time to let me know what you think, and any and all criticisms are welcomed. Also, please feel free to let me know what you think of the galleries (images you like, images you may not like), as well as any ideas as to how it could work better. Thank you for visitng my site, and i hope to hear from you soon! Corey
